Same thing happened with muto. When Godzilla released his atomic breath into muto's mouth, she died in that exact moment due to the heat but her head came off afterwards :)

Scylla's actually lucky because Godzilla actually gave her a second chance. He could've finished her in Dominion especially after she was causing trouble and attacked him. Tiamat, understandably, was not given that second chance. It also explains why Godzilla was ready to throw hands with Kong again. Granted he was getting carried away, but Gman was really getting fed up of other Kaiju not respecting boundaries.
