New album 'Fortitude' out now: gojira.lnk.to/f...
Lyrics:
You were told to swallow crawl and hide
Victims of fear and deception
Get ahold of yourself rise above
The better part of you, immortal
May this purple spring flow into your soul
Exhausting all these black holes inside
Wake up to the sound of doom!
Let this chant ring in your bones and lift you up
Get strong
Leave the mud behind and climb up the sky
Wake up to the sound of doom!

I'm glad that they're opening the door a bit stylistically and they're breaking out of the 'everything has to be violently heavy' trap that a lot of bands fall into. Honestly it's nice to see a band recognise their own unique sound and take it in a direction that isn't defined by what people expect from them. Variety is the spice of life you know?

I am at peace knowing Gojira is just doing what they like to do. This doesn't remotely sound like commercial music, it's more accessible but not more commercial. Everyone seems to forget Gojira had softer songs on every single one of their albums, and as they evolve, they'll keep working towards newer sounds. No one can deny songs like Into the Storm or Amazonia weren't some great songs

@@thoronthol1175 I think they've always had that freedom, but in my honest, truly honest opinion. They have less freedon from the pressure from fans they've accumulated from the last 10 years. @@VicSellsPeace true. We’ve all seen a tendency for people to,want them to remake their old music in a new form, and yes that does create it’s own pressure. Really enjoying the new stuff. I'm glad this band doesn't feel the need to do the heavy shit constantly like other metal bands and is willing to experiment, but they've always experimented with their sound.
