Its not like a magnet like one of the reactors was saying, it doesn't repel, it just that it infintely slows down as it approaches him so it never reaches him. Think about a person who starts on one side of the room and wants to get to the other side but each step that he takes the next step is half of that distance of the previous one, that person will never reach the other side. 0.999999_ but never reaching 1 because there is always another decimal that can be added.
