I’m grading for my brown belt in 2 days and I’m 11currently, I will grade for my black belt when I am 13 or 14. It doesn’t take that long to master especially this kata. I need this one to get my brown belt and it only took me 2 years to learn

Too stiff and robotic. This is why karate guys would get destroyed in a real fight.

In my case, you have to find to "hidden movements" in a kata. realizing that these movements exist allows you to open possibilities for you to change the kata to adapt to the fight you are in. Mawashi uke is a good example as you can use it to take down your enemy rather simply block his attacks.

@@breadles5 I have to call out BS on this. And I say this after years of training in traditional karate and buying into tons of kata and bunkai training and looking for "hidden secrets" and all that BS. This is absolute woo-woo nonsense if some moderately athletic dude tries to punch your face one day. You do what you are trained to do. In many cases, that means the traditional karate guy will have his fists "properly" chambered as the first punch from their attacker smacks them in the nose. Don't kid yourself.

@@rasalghul9331 I'm just staying my experience with goju ryu how I have been taught, what you might see as a dumb step with a block like hiki uke can actually be used as a takedown if you were fighting, and you could do many things from there like leave the fight, punch your opponent in the face to end the fight, or trap him in an arm bar. Karate is not as shallow as you think, nor does it simply just extend to punching and kicking and moving,but also using many muscles in synchronisation and training your whole body with weights and tools.
@breadles53 жыл бұрын
@@rasalghul9331 also chambering creates contradiction motion, which uses more of your hips so you punch stronger, but I prefer to keep guard rather sacrifice it since it leaves me open in my ribs if my attack fails while using the chambering technique.

@@breadles5 Don't kid yourself - if you want to practice a takedown, you have to practice taking down resisting training partners. Don't symbolically move your body in the air and just say you are also doing this and that. This delusional aspect of training kata is something traditional karate guys always falls victim to.
