Power pole was mainly implemented in early dragonball as both a sunwukong reference and cuz goku had a smaller reach. Since he became an adult he never needed the powerpole since his reach is usually the same as most of his enemies.

The Way they introduced the Power Pole in Daima so Goku could use it has an oddly nice place in the way Daima was made. It's like Toriyama knew that his time on our planet was dwindling and was like. I don’t Goku got weaker. He’s just not used to fighting in a kid sized body. Which is why he needed the Power Pole again. My theory is that Gomah wasn’t specific in his wish to make the DBZ cast into children. I don’t think Shenron is powerful enough to diminish the Z Fighters strength and power, especially not Goku, Vegeta and Gohan since their strengths far surpasses Shenron’s. But Shenron is powerful enough to alter the cast’s physical appearance and stature, giving them the bodies of children, but not altering their strength from within. For example, Goku was able to defeat Tamagami #3, who’s even stronger than Dabura, despite his small stature.

He's weaker in the sense that his body can't store and use ki as efficiently as in his adult body. He's quickly adjusting to that and he'll probably be stronger than before by the end of the series but yes he did get weaker.

Goku in Daima *is* still much weaker than he was in the Buu Saga... It's why Super Saiyan is (so far) the only Transformation he can do in his De-aged Body. 🙂

There was literally an Article I read that stated one of the Taigamas were only slightly stronger than Super Perfect Cell - so nowhere *near* even Fat Buu's Level. 🙂

My only head scratcher was how the power pole kept changing owners between the dk piccolo arc to daima, we see goku uses it to get to the lookout and in the 3 yr time skip he has w/ him when he goes to the TB, then we do see sometimes in the anime and even in suler when dende takes goku to find 17's island the power pole is back connecting the tower and the lookout kinda inconsistent there before goku reclaims it in daima. (Yes ik daima is before super im just saying its odd that it randly shifts to goku still owns it to he doesnt)

I always had this head cannon goku black made a scythe because goku’s body remembered how to use the power pole and to further spite the sayian zamasu made a bastardized version of the pole with the scythe. Because there was quite literally no reason for him to make it he just did.

Theres two concepts you need to accept in dragonball as a series, ki control and battle power. They weren't weaker as kids, they lost alot of ki control or the ability to manipulate it as freely as normal this limits the techniques you can use and/or simultaneously. Things the viewer takes for granted if they grew up watching DBZ, everything takes ki control. From flying, sensing other ki, speed enhancement, defense(against ki blast) etc. But over time theyve been mastering ki control and therefore transformations and abilities are coming back.

Given that we have seen Vegeta go Super Saiyan 3, I don't think it can be argued that Goku is significantly weaker. He could curb stomp a lot of problems he faces in just his base form, to say nothing of his transformed states, so the fact that he doesn't shows us that Daima isn't entirely about the battles. It's building its world and it's more of an adventure story than the lurching from one crisis to another we got in Dragon Ball Z and, in some respectes, Super.
