I always get chills during the Great Ape/Master Korin scene. For me, it's his realization that Goku might be able to survive that trial and save everyone. It's kind of like King Kai's realization that Gohan had surpassed Goku right before fighting Cell.

Goku is a saiyan (which we will know latelty) so its obvious he has "some" hidden potential that is to unlocked

Although Goku wasn't considered a Saiyan at the time (as it was never revealed until Z), this could be him getting a Zenkai boost: his Saiyan blood allowed to survive the UD water, while weaker mortals (mostly humans) do not have the same power and died. In other words, it wasn't the water itself that made him stronger, but rather, surviving its effects.

Goku should get Zenkai Boost after being beaten nearly to death by Piccolo. Goku had hidden power(Oozaru Transformation) and the True Divine Water just unlocked it.

This water had hidden power unlocking properties, so no, the power boost came from the water. And unlike mentioned above, it has nothing to do with the great ape form. He just got his hidden power released like Gohan did during Z couple of times. The water just isn’t as effective as Guru’s or Old Kai’s techniques

The Ultra Divine Water works on Goku cause he has hidden power, ie the Great Ape transformation. He basically has all the transformed strength without actually transforming. Also I'm convinced Toriyama was just sick of drawing the Great Ape transformation so that he just added this in. Man's laziness is legendary lol

A bit of a head canon , the devine water wasnt made to be drank by mortals thus its poision but Goku's body is being pushed to its limits that he breaks those limits , thats why its works

If the Super Saiyan powers were thought of in advance, I say Goku realistically shoulda transformed into a Super Saiyan the first time Krillin died. But the reason Super Saiyan WASN'T a thing is because Dragon Ball was mostly a mystical parody of Journey Into The West. This is why I prefer classic Dragon Ball despite the good story and character writing of DBZ, the lore was simple and consistent, the martial arts was more practical and the stakes were serious to the point where death was meaningful.

You need a super high power level to transform. It's not just anger thats needed. Thats why Saiyans took so long, you need a powerlevel in the millions at the very minimum. Which no Saiyan had come even close too for hundreds or thousands of years prior to Goku and then a bit later, Vegeta. Then having the anger AND power needed for the Super Saiyan form to come together was basically impossible. Thats why it was a legend for so long.

@@MrKevin486 Yeah, and that power level thing to tap into Super Saiyan is honestly the lore-breaker and what mad m want to despise Super Saiyan after the Namek Saga because it was said to be a legendary thing and now EVERYONE can be Super Saiyan and more. As per usual, retconning lore to make things suit the story is what often times creates more problems than solves them.

@MegaJetty1 The having a high powerlevel to be a Super Saiyan is not lore breaking and it was never retconned. I don't know what you are talking about. If anything the "anger" part was more retconned then the high powerlevel. Every Saiyan who's transformed has had a super insane powerlevel, especially compared to all the Saiyans prior. Remember, Nappa had a powerlevel or about 4,500. And he was considered the strongest of the strongest. That's absolutely NOTHING compared to what was needed to become a Super Saiyan. Vegeta was 18,000 and considered a freak prodigy. A Saiyan with a powerlevel in the millions was basically laughable. Hell the SECOND strongest known person at that time next to Frieza, was Ginyu, with a PL of 120 thousand. You'd need to be like 10x what Ginyu was to even begin to be a SSJ. This level of power was completely impossible for the majority of Saiyans. That's why it took so long to actually see a real Super Saiyan. Normal Saiyans were angry af all the time. It wasn't the lack of anger that kept them from Transforming, it was the lack of power.

@@MrKevin486 The story of the Namek says the Legendary Super Saiyan is a phenomenon that happens once every 1,000 years. The story hyped up Goku as THE Legendary Super Saiyan, power levels be damned...until Trunks, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly and Goten all made the Legend part obsolete and ridiculous. Goku had a Power Level of 5 when he was a baby, HENCE why he was sent away to Earth to conquer it and was designated a Low Class Saiyan. Power levels proved to be flexible inaccurate by the Super Saiyan transformation, that's why they don't get referenced anymor after the Namek Saga.

I believe this is why Goku was able to control the Spirit Bomb in Z the first time, then after becoming Super Saiyan god after absorbing the Super Saiyan auras, and reach Ultra Instinct after absorbing the spirit bomb while fighting Jiren. Since he is pure hearted and has the Devine water essence in him. I bet Toriyama watched/read Dragon Ball and got inspired on Super Saiyan god and Ultra Instinct after re-watching/re-reading this episode.
