Also even if we're aping on the "DODGE!" meme, the Demon King seemed to be very reliant on his defense (which was pierced) and Junior also has at least one lapse of "I can hold it" and nuh uh this ain't it. I don't think he ever attempted to deliberately tank an attack for himself after, it's always taking the hit for a homie instead. He did seem to have a dedicated defense move since he energizes for them, but hey, dad failed, I failed, this isn't a good trick.

This is one of the grimiest fights in the series. All bets are off. Something about early Piccolo is just how willing he is to maim his opponet to get the leg up (pun intended). Demon King Piccolo did the same thing with Goku's limbs. Left him with damn near no options then prepared the final blow. Made the same mistake too. If Goku wasn't as tenacious and creative as he is though he would've lost. Win by any means necessary has always been Piccolo's MO even if it doesn't always work out for him.
@welshlout34003 ай бұрын
It’s kinda a reverse parallel to the fight with Vegeta, where the heroes succeed thanks to using some uncharacteristically scrappy tactics. Learned from Piccolo, perhaps? And then all the protagonists fight a bit like this in the Namek saga, including and *especially* Vegeta, who probably learnt it from his experience on Earth 😂
@dentkort3 ай бұрын
@@welshlout3400Vegeta has always been willing to sacrifice his pride to get the win, even though it's always a last resort. Gohan mostly stuck to being basic when he's not angry and a monster when he is. Krillin stuck to support roles as usual. While Goku's legendary creativity is what let him land as many hits on Frieza as he did in his base form, while his tenacity let him outlast Frieza in the anime (frieza never had a chance in the manga).

"Piccolo on demon time" nah, he on GREAT DEMON KING time! And Goku's composure is honestly his biggest strength throughout the series, in addition to his tenacity and creativity. Against every villain, Goku remains calm and keeps his head in the game, while his opponents lose their minds when they get pushed. Happened against Piccolo, Nappa, Vegeta, Frieza, you name it. Because Goku lacks the thing that's holding them all back. Ego. They're all so preoccupied by how great they think they are, when that gets challenged they crumbled. But Goku's not in it to be superior, to be better than others, he's doing this to be better than himself and improve. And to improve you have to admit that you can do better, gotta be humble. Its the reason Vegeta had to admit at the end of the series that Goku is the best. Cause when Goku gets challenged, he doesn't get worked up, he gets to work. As always, LOVE the analysis man!
