He was already defeated, we aren’t trying to see who would wipe them out of existence, we’re trying to see who would win in a fight. What you’re referring to is plot armour, every protagonist has that to a certain degree. Unless mentioned in the actual canon that fate is somehow protecting the character like Archie sonic, then that character isn’t and doesn’t have real plot armour. Plot armour is a device that is used in fiction in order to prevent the protagonist from dying in a place that the author doesn’t want them to. We don’t count that in a power scaling battle, because there is no plot! It’s just a fight. People saying that the dragon balls can revive him, no, earth dragonballs already revived him, if they used the namek ones, that’s gone too, same for the cerulean dragon balls, and the only ones left are the super dragon balls, which are the size of planets, and are scattered across not 1, but 2 whole universes. Not even destroyers like champa can collect all of them effortlessly. People have used the “he’ll come back tho” and the “but the dragon balls” much more than 3 times, so if goku dies there is no one to wish him back. Which doesn’t matter anyway, because we are scaling power, not death! To be clear, I’m not saying smbz turbo mecha sonic should have won, goku would have folded him in ssj2. I just want to say that using things like “he’ll come back tho” are unfair and stupid arguments used by db fans.

Note for the comment section- Sonic 06 has super forms fighting Solaris, a hyper dimensional being, which places them beyond 99% of dragon ball characters, and add the hyper boost from the master? Please. As a Sonic fan I disagree with that bull. It took the power of super Sonic, super shadow, and super silver, all attacking at once, and at his weak point, to beat him. Solaris is universal. 100 percent agree. But Sonic? No. Archie, yes. But that is non-canon. Hyper Sonic is probably close to universal, but not quite there I would say.

Someone Important Yes, while I know that even together they didn’t kill him, so they aren’t universal, they still fought him, took attacks from a hyper-dimensional being, and dealt damage in turn, so it’s not ridiculous to assume that super form durability and “of light” attacks (spear, arrow, and shield), would be somewhere in a similar ball park, even a thousandth of power compared to Solaris in order to damage any of his defenses

To those who think Goku should've won (why am i doing this, they'll get salty anyway): The Mecha Sonic used here is his interpretation in SMBZ (at least i think it is). In this version of the character, Turbo Mecha Sonic is a transformation of metal sonic after fusing with all of his previous models. Now, metal sonic is a robotic copy of sonic himself, meaning he is on par or at least slightly weaker than him, meaning that, (at his strongest), Mecha is star level if we lowball him, since this transformation made him far superior sonic and co. Aight? Aight. If that alone was used, then yes, goku wins no problem, GG. The *thing* here is when mecha pulls out the chaos emeralds and powers up into "Metallix". Chaos emeralds are gems of infinite power that, when all seven are used in harmony, imbues the user in what' known as a super form (super sonic, super knuckles, super shadow, etc). Now here are some feats that indicates the power of Super Sonic: •Free control of time-space at the wave of a hand •Clapping the buttcheeks of Solaris (who is a god that destroyed the space-time continuum and reality itself just by *exsisting* of all things) by himself •with the help of burning blaze (equal in power), defeated the egg wizard with the jeweled scepter in his possesion (stated to be more powerful than solaris) If Turbo Mecha > Sonic, then Metallix > Super sonic And on top of THAT, Metallix powered up with the master emerald, (a gem that rules over the chaos emeralds to the point that it gave them their own super, called the "super emeralds") basically giving his "Super form" a SUPER FORM ON TOP OF IT. If im wrong on any of this, let me know (also bad english) TL:DR: the battle was over once mecha pulled out the magic rainbow gushers. Oh yeah, the animation was awesome too i guess

Take Saiyan saga Goku and give him all his forms, he's still not beating Jiren. Each animator sets a level for Goku to make the animation more enjoyable. There's a reason why rarely anyone uses Xeno Goku in animations, just by transforming he could wipe all of reality. Doesn't make for a very fun animation. Mecha didn't really beat UI Goku; his Super Form did trump over most of Goku's transformations through the act of increasing his power (Super Form logic) but UI Goku took the Base Sonic route and increased his speed to deliver blows to weaken Metallix connection to the Chaos Force at the risk of damaging his own body (Toll of UI is more immense than Kaioken Blue x20) In the end; it came down to worn down Base Forms and since Androifs/Robots can only be worn down through immense damage or death; Metallix was in better fighting condition than Goku. Goku won the battle through skills but Metallix would win the war due to being quite similar to Ultron whose determination allows Ultron to enslave literal Norse Gods in one parallel universe.
