गोकुल मथुरा से पूर्वी-दक्षिणी दिशा में १५.८ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। गोकुल भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के लिए प्रसिद्ध है क्योंकि श्रीकृष्ण ने अपना बचपन यहीं गोकुल में बिताया था।
महावन । मथुरे के बाहरी इलाके में स्थित, महावन मथुरानाथ के मंदिर के लिए लोकप्रिय है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि इसकी स्थापना कृष्ण के पालक पिता नंदा ने की थी। इसमें हरे-भरे जंगलों का समूह है और इसे बृंदावन, गोकुल और महाबन के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
भगवान कृष्ण ने 3 साल की उम्र में गोकुल छोड़ दिया था। जब कृष्ण 3 साल के थे, तब नंदबाबा अपने परिवार और लोगों के साथ गोकुल से वृन्दावन चले गए।
