A gold merchant has a linear gold chain that consists of 149 interlocked links
He moves to a different city and finds an apartment for rent.
The landlord just has one condition that every week the merchant should pay him one link from his gold chain
as the rent for the apartment.
The merchant has to stay in the apartment for 149 weeks..
and he realizes that he has to cut the links of the chain several times to pay the weekly rent.
Being a smart and logical person, he comes up with an optimized
plan to have minimum number of cuts in the chain... while ensuring that he can pay one link at the end of every week.
What's the minimum number of cuts the merchant makes in the chain, so that
he pays one link at the end of every week ??
Hint:
The landlord is not going to spend any link until all 149 weeks are completed.
