Probably one of the best Southern Gospel quartets of all time!! Tim Riley and Jay Parrack owned their perspective parts. Fewer basses could go deeper and fewer tenors could go higher! Their sound was unmatched!!!

Johnny Parrack...that 6 foot tall Tenor Singer from Texas..yes, sir! He was with The Kingsmen Quartet from 1971-Early 1977. Then he left, and Big Ol' Jim Hamill 'bout to go crazy, findin' another Tenor Singer for The Kingsmen... The Ton of Fun! Then, Archie... Watkins, from...The Inspirations...(Yeah, The Kingsmen know 'em)!😁😁😁 Then...the day arrived for their new Tenor Singer to arrive. Jim Hamill's words were something like this:"Talk about inflation hittin'! This big car drives up, a step-ladder comes down out of the front driver's side door, and there he was! 5 Foot 2 inches tall...102 pounds! He came inside, and at first, I didn't like him... until I heard him start singin' about Jesus, and saw the tears rolling down his cheeks. Then, I knew that we had the right singer for the job"! I will say this: It's one thing to SING for Jesus, but it's another thing to LIVE for him!

This video is great! It's so sad that Tim Riley's son, on the drums, was killed in an automobile accident, on the way to rehearsal. Tim Riley is a very gracious man. Jay sings tenor very, very, very well. I love to hear his Daddy, Johnny Parrack, who was with the Kingsmen back in the 70"s...may some in the 80's....Gwen Weaver

If you get a chance to see "Heritage of Gold", please do! We saw them last week in Wooster, OH. The current GC line-up of Thomas Nalley, Chip Pullen, Daniel Riley and Chris West, along with Jay Parrack, Jonathan Wilburn, Mike LeFevre and Tim Riley. Wilburn & Wilburn, Jay Parrack, and The LeFevre Quartet also performed the first half of the show, and then they all came onstage to do requests of older GC songs. They were fantastic, and you could tell they really have fun together while sharing God's word through song. Tim Riley is still amazing! What a testament to God's healing power!

tix3 I sang bass in a quartet for many years. Sometimes there were people that you would see during the entire program that looked like they would rather be anywhere but there. Go figure the public.
@sundaypunchr15 жыл бұрын
Well MrDosmon...sorry but that can't happen. The group has ALREADY changed members. First of all no modern quartet seems to keep a single lineup for twenty years. The fact that Brian free sang with them twenty years ago has nothing to do with my comment. My post remains accurate...they had more hits with Brian Free and ivan parker than they have had put together since. Since this video was posted they have changed members again. So i guess this lineup wont have anymore hits huh??
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
Then why'd you listen to it?
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
Lyrics are a part of some music there smarty. I really dont think that there are certain requirments for lyrics. Get a clue
@sundaypunchr15 жыл бұрын
I disagree about Brian Free. He is probably one of the best tenors ever. So is this one. I think they are both about equal. Godl city had more hits with Brian Free and Ivan Parker than they have since. Just my opinion about the tenors. Fact about the hits though.
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
Ok, so your saying the religious lyrics make a song worse when there are rap songs with hatred lyrics? Oh ya, that make a lot of sense from your part. And once again, get a clue
@jmparker7816 жыл бұрын
CCM is hardly squishy. This is the same kind of generalized comment I keep hearing from people who haven't listened to CCM in twenty years. And how is singing about an old-time hellfire brimstone preacher "emphasizing the message"? It's emphasizing a MAN.
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
Well duh there genious. But lyrics arent everything in a song. So if you dont like the lyrics, focus on the music. Don't try to put down Christian lyrics
@Jouwl16 жыл бұрын
How come you always flame in your comments? It's annoying, please stop, you are giving christians a bad name. Don't you think I've tried focusing on the music? It's the only way I can enjoy it.

This was great until one guy got rowdy and bumped the other guy and ruined it. No wonder people didn't want to get saved after that standing with their arms folded in disgust.
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
I believe i have there smarty. Lyrics don't make a song, so don't down a music just because of the lyrics. And if you had a brain at all, you would realize that there are other musics with basses. So go look around and critisize somebody else's music.
@Jouwl16 жыл бұрын
Does it matter what you think? Um, no. If for me religious lyrics makes the song worse than it would be with non-religious lyrics, there is clearly something wrong with the lyrics, from where I stand.
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
I think that you are totally off. I am standing up for christian's from obnoxious people like you. You need to learn when to back off. Lyrics and music makes a song. But just because you don't like the lyrics doesn't mean you have to critisize it. And you have no clue what it means to give a bad name for a christian
@Jouwl16 жыл бұрын
I dislike religious music. Music is too beautiful an art for being polluted with religion, which is ugly. UGH. LEE. Tim Riley's low notes are good.
@Jouwl16 жыл бұрын
Common sense? What are you on about? Lyrics can't alone make a song, no, but a song without good lyrics is a lame song. It's a kind of symbiotic situation.
@Jouwl16 жыл бұрын
The only element in religious music I dislike are the religious lyrics, unless the song itself is shit.
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
And what makes the lyrics good? A boneheaded decision such as yours, i dont think so
@BnCSGMusic16 жыл бұрын
Lyrics dont make the song, if you had any common sense you'd know that!
