this episode always annoyed me because why worry about the most reliable asset fluctuating like it's the end of the world 🙄gold is currently worth 200% what it was when this aired!

It is if you hold almost all of your short term assets in Gold and you see a massive hit. They aren't long term investors or speculators.. They are a cashflow heavy and orientated business. Realistically though shops like Les Gold's and Rick Harrisons made more from being on TV than the shop I reckon. Also Pawn Shops make a lot of more of their money on loans than they do retail.
