Hated hearing about the loss of Rite of Passage. He raced twice on the flat at Ascot during his career, defeating Age of Aquarius by a neck here in the G1 Ascot Gold Cup in 2010. He would return two years later and again take another big prize. This time it came on British Champions Day 2012, when Rite of Passage ran down the John Gosden trained Aiken inside the final furlong to win the G3 British Champions Long Distance Cup. He was also a very talented horse in National Hunt Races and over hurdles. In 12 career starts over hurdles, in national hunt flat races, and on the flat, Rite Of Passage was 12-8-0-3 with his only career out of money finish a 4th of 10 in a National Hunt Flat Race at the Curragh in Ireland in 2009.
