Sreetips I have to ask. I know copper is not as precious as gold silver and all that. But could you percipate copper out of your solutions and make a copper bar. If you have done that I'm sorry I missed it.
@sreetips

I've been asked many times. I'll save some of my copper solutions and give it a try.

Hello I love your Channel I have a question Pocket Watch is Marked 25 years guaranteed Do you know approximate how thick layer of gold is is it like (1/10 14k) or What do you think?
@sreetips
@sreetips 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that. But I've gotten yields up around 4% when doing pocket watch cases. That would indicate about 1/10 12k gold filled material. Less depending on how much of the gold has worn away over the years.

Hmm to me "gold filled" sounds like it means something different than "Billet of base metal with a thin layer of karat gold soldered to the top and bottom". Im my mind, a base metal with a thin layer of something on top and bottom is plated. Logically "gold filled" sounds like a layer of base metal with gold Inside.. hence the Filled. The way they describe "gold filled" is actually gold plated and base metal filled. So backwards.
@andrewkennaugh4974
@andrewkennaugh4974 4 жыл бұрын
Nah, not backwards, just named for the scientific processes used for completing them. Gold filled as in gold that has been filled. And plating is usually done by electrolysis. I could be way off, as I'm a novice in the metals world. Also named so because, well, Europe.😁

Your March 11th, 2019 video you extracted 18g from 490 g gold filled scrap for a yield of 3.67%
@sreetips
@sreetips 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, some gold filled can be 1/10 12k or 1/20 14k. If you see a piece marked 14/20 then that's 1/20 14k gold filled.

Just a request... In a previous video you filmed yourself processing your material(jewelry). Breaking it down, removing stones, grading ect. For some reason I really enjoyed watching that and found it super interesting. Would be neat to get more of that type of content.

So I found a lot of scrap gold filled jewelry that weighs 550 grams. And it's only $25 should I get it? Would it be a good investment on my part? Any advice would be appreciated.
@sreetips
@sreetips 4 жыл бұрын
5.5 times 2.5 equals 13.75 grams of pure gold. $25? If it's to good to be true then it probably is.

Thank you for information, I think that the yield depends on the shape of the elements because the surface area is different.... What books you recomend to know to recover preciuos metals of different scraps?

The ratio of gold refers to total weight, NOT surface area.
