Daugaviņš was mentioned in line with the historic players, but he came out of his recent retirement and was team captain for this tournament, making do-or-die plays and becoming the player with most points scored for national team (all-time). Very rare to even get an opportunity to end a career this way. Also, a lot of veteran and recently retired players point out the changes in NT mentality Bob Hartley left even after his tenure. Latvian fans can be incredibly caustic after a heartbreak as well (-throwing Your sneakers on ice with game still going- mad). And still show up the next day. Waiting for that "Torille tavataan!" day.

You likely will never see McDavid in another world championships. Hopefully an Olympics or world Cup but McDavid has his world championship medal and the off chance he misses the playoffs at some point in his career he won't go.
