The winners have a 5.2 DUPR rating and the opponents have a 4.8 and 5.1 DUPR. So sad they were playing in a 3.5 bracket. What a scam. I feel so bad for players in this bracket that were actually playing in their proper 3.5 skill level and lost to these ridiculous sandbaggers.

That is exactly why I would never pay the high prices to be in a tournament like this. I’m not about to get destroyed by people playing way below their skill level.

@@lazyhusband Not their fault imo. The tournament forced them to use UTPR ratings which are inaccurate. They couldn't play up even if they wanted to.

I don't understand how you could feel good about winning at this level when clearly the skill level is much higher than 3.5. Where is the honor in that. By the way, I love your videos. I always look for them.

There were complaints all over about the ranking groups since Nationals was strictly using UTPR, which is only updated if you play in particular tournaments. They would not let people play in higher divisions based on their DUPR even if requested, so it is not the fault of the players sandbagging here, it is the tournament.

This is not 3.5 players. Either the rating system is inadequate or we have sandbaggers. This needs to be fixed and the sooner the better. Also need to have better line calling in tournaments.

I disagree with the call at 15:20 her ATP was called fault because she crossed the net plane. If contact is made on her side of the net, then she can carry over. Also, if the momentom of the ball that went over the net did come back across due to backspin off the net, then she is allowed to cross. Either way, it should not have been disallowed, in my opinion. Thoughts?
@tammytaylor4310 Жыл бұрын
I definitely don’t want to play in tournaments if this is supposed to be 3.5! Pickleball needs to get the ratings system fixed. I’ve played USTA tennis for 20+ years & been to Nationals & the ratings are much closer to actual ability.
@hargy2929 Жыл бұрын
That's because the lowest DUPR in this game is a 4.88 the other 3 players are above 5.0. I think this tournament went by UTPR which maybe lower but yes this is a big problem at these lower brackets. I consider myself a decent 4.0 range player and these guys would kick my butt.

I don't think she hit the net. I think the ref called her for crossing the line with her paddle, which is a bad call. if initial contact is on her side, it's good, or if the momentum of the ball comes back across, she can cross.

Really good players. There were a lot of missed drops and easy dinks. I know a lot of people in the comments said this is a 5.0 game, but there definitely were some simple mistakes not common in a 5.0 player. Definitely feels higher than 3.5. The soft gameplay typically separates the higher from the lower players.

I don't understand why people sandbag in the amateur diviisons at tournaments. Like seriously, you'e going to pay a $50 entry fee at least and drive / fly for however long so you can beat the crap out of people way below your skill level and get no prize money for it? Amateur divisions at Nationals don't pay out prize money afaik, so you come all this way for... what? A nonexistent sense of accomplishment and a cheap $10 medal? Whee.
