After a grueling jeep road climb, you will reach the legendary Gold Bar Rim. Gold Bar is the 6th trail of famous Magnificent 7 ride northwest of Moab. The trail is marked by two coats of paint, the yellow line and the blue dot. The older blue dot is more difficult than yellow dot with more cliff side riding and exposed drops. At this point, the blue dot is very faded and quite difficult to follow and there are multiple occurrence where the two intersect or follow the exact route. Sticking with the yellow dot serves more as a black diamond track, the blue dot rides more double black diamond in my opinion.
The mileage is not long on Gold Bar, 3.6 miles to be more specific. However, it feels more like 12 and is a very physically demanding trail. Technically, the route is mostly downhill, it doesn’t feel that way with technical climbs and overall flat riding.
One of the primary hazards is not only the technical riding, but the threat of cross winds. The Go Pro effect is real here and makes it look like I’m much closer to the edge than I actually was. Be careful, Outdoor Gold is not responsible for irresponsible riding.

Hey, this is the day! So when we got to that point right before the sandy road back out of the area, my son asked me why we just didn't continue up the gold bar? I told him it leads to the portal, the only way down, and that it is way above our pay grade. I can't wait to show him this video, to stop hearing how we took the pussy trail instead.

obviously you've ridden for a while and these trails before, but as a complete noob how do you know where to go? Sometimes several trails branch off, and is it just from prior experience that you know where to go so as not to ride off a cliff, or how would one know exactly where to go? Great video as always.

Usually on stuff like this, there is some paint marks on the ground, the blue marks are kind of worn off, but there is also some yellow marks! Thanks Rehn!
