California Gold Nuggets part 5 of 5
Final video from my buddy Bryan's claim in the Motherload of California. Today I break out the gold pan, and see if the gravels that have been loaded with nuggets are also loaded with fine gold too small for the metal detectors to detect. Also we pull out the detectors one last time and fins one last batch of nugget. The officer pays us another visit.
I will also explain in his video all about the "Cops Called" issue and answer a lot of questions many of you had about the previous video.

When I left home at 15 yrs old back in 1980, I met a guy who had a claim on the Middle Fork of the American River in Auburn California, that was a fun summer, I ran that dredge 6-7 hours a day, I was fearless, one day I found myself deeeep under a house sized Boulder just sucking up gold from the bedrock, didnt even realize it 😂😂😂😂😂

There is a lot of stupidity in it too, if the cops are interacting wsith you. When it's other people involved, I think it's never a bad idea to record unless they tell you themselves not to. There is a reason why you should record the police and why your lawyer will tell you to record them. No matter how much you believe in the police, they do lie and have lied. So recording being completely unobtrusive since "they are recording too" is always extremely smart. Just in case you get that bad apple that actually exists.

Thing is though, if you don't want to talk about it or can't then don't mention it. Alluding to something and then shutting down any questions about it is clickbait in it's simplest form. No-one needs to know and it stops the nonsense that arises from such a situation. Not everything in life needs to be shared - being able to filter what you need / don't need to make public is a skill that a lot of people need to learn. For the record, this is not a personal 'attack' at Dan, more of observation. I understand saying that it happened for the sake of being authentic and true but at the same time, it not being mentioned wouldn't have detracted from the video in any way / shape or form.

Well Howdy from Montana again Dan! After seeing the pyrite crystals I have two questions you may be able to answer; 1. Is gold typically be associated with pyrite, as in, is pyrite a good indicator? 2. I’ve located a small vein of limonite with many opaque black crystals (square like the pyrite crystals you showed in this video). They appear so different than anything I’ve found to date. Would something like that be related to pyrite or are square crystals common as a different mineral? Thanks in advance if you’re able to shed light on this find! I love all your amazing videos Dan.

I don't know if the general location of this area was mentioned, the "Mother Load" is really, a lot of places in Northern and Central California. But there are a few places I can think of where that red soil is common and there is a lot of gold in it. I think we now know why people used hydraulic cannons to wash away entire mountain sides back in the 1800's, that gold you are showing is real coarse, so, did not come far from it's source (there is even a place in California called Coarsegold). I live about 45 minutes from the "mother load" and can tell you that it's a pretty nice day on the river, and I have many to choose from, where you can enjoy nature, swim, and see how hard gold panning really is, but totally worth it when you find a little something gleaming in that pan. Up here, lots of names of places have some attachment to gold. You see terms like camp, gulch, trench, diggings, bar, and you know, that is likely where the gold was at.

Well, I know Californians can be extremely protective of their environment. From what you said Dan, it sounds like a case where illegal actions weren't necessarily bad or destructive actions, but I think the letter of the law should speak for itself and it's not important how the authorities found out about it. You're always pretty transparent about what you can and can't do in B.C., and hopefully provided some similar clarity to your American buddy.

Dan, you're letting people get to you. I know it's easier to recognize that then just decide to not let it bother you. You're doing all the right things, and appear to be a bit sharper and more socially competent than pretty much all the people making non-positive comments. You are right about filming too. It may be legal, but it's (usually) more rude than it is beneficial. Like how you are legally in the clear to tell your mother-in-law to shut up, but usually, it isn't worth it. Not to mention you're liable to get off with more warnings if you aren't making the cop feel like you are being disrespectful. Many (most?) officers prefer resolving minor infractions with you as if you are their neighbor, and being rude is a quick way for that missing registration sticker to result in an inability to drive home, or to make your 20 mph over infraction become a 20 mph ticket.

there were some very small pieces in some of the first pans you showed us.. one even had a floater.. You were looking for bigger pieces but you need to look for microscopic gold

@@Danhurd It all adds up when you process yards and yards.. Might also be a good idea to hand sort the quartz from the washed rocks coming off a trammel and do a crush

I appreciate that you didn't sit there and record the law enforcement interaction. It seems like folks think because you can means you should. Respect for folks around you and keeping your nose out other peoples business seems rare these days. Huge props to you Dan. While it might of been mis-guided to call law enforcement this time, I personally appreciate that folks do watch for bad actors. The public land where I live is absolutely trashed, and no one is going to pay for any government (federal, state, or local) to go out and clean it up. Better to a be pro-active instead letting bad actors destroy the landscape.
