Utah heads to northern Spain to try his hand gold panning below the old Roman gold mining area of Las Medulas. Many of the area creeks below Las Medulas are known for placer gold, so he thought he would give it a try. Armed with a small, 12" pan, sucker bottle and two hands to dig with (they wouldn't let him bring a shovel on the airplane, he is going to try for Spanish (Roman?) gold. He try's panning in two different creeks near the medieval town of Ponferrada, Spain (in Castil e Leon), including on the Sil river near the small town of Vila Franca del Bierzo. Will he find any gold? It is a long shot. Either way, he is gold panning in Spain . . .
