Would love to see such majestic trees live for another thousand years.
@GOLD_FEVER Жыл бұрын
@@laurahaaima1436 That majestic tree is probably not much older than 200 years... They chopped 99% of the "old growth" out during the gold rush (and by the way California used to have WAY LESS trees than it does now, i know, i thought that was wierd too!)
@laurahaaima1436 Жыл бұрын
@@GOLD_FEVER wow thats mind blowing.. o probably the removal by the oldtimers made place for new bigger growth?

Quickest way for a BALL extraction Jason is to walk across streams on fallen trees.. Here in NZ in our back blocks one chose to walk them trees with Exstream care. We used little low top rubber gumboots back in the day and to help us climb over them wet trees or up rocky stoney rivers we often would put small horseshoe nails in the front or back of our boot, burning holes in the instep and both front and back to allow the water to escape if and when we walked these streams. Your forest of Duglas Fur looks impressive, nothing like that over here except man-made forest. Wonderful looking country you're in all the same, what happened to the wild live expected you to have meet deer by this time at least. Keep em coming love to watch these kinds of doco. Oh by the way what was that old mine like that you located near that waterfall, will there be a doco on that some time too, Kia ora ra from NZ.

I thought that was an abandoned mine at first glance but that appears to be natural, which is even better. Right at the bottom of a waterfall, wearing down, breaking up rocks, and gravity separating. What a spot to find in such a beautiful location.
@RuggedRunnerOverland Жыл бұрын
It's definitely not natural...you can see what looks like a wood door right inside the adit before the video fades to black, a pretty cool spot for an abandoned mine.

Props to you Jason. I've done a lot of bush whacking on the west slope of the Cascades and it can be brutal going. There's so much underbrush and the forest floor is just buried in debris. The going can get very difficult especially when you can't see where your next step will take you.

There will more than likely be a deposit way up the mountain above that creek . Huge trees indicate deep ground , too deep for exposed bedrock . Look for changes in the foliage , different color and different trees , Ohh i spoke to soon , looks like you just found an Adit or a Cave , yeeehaaa now i'm looking forward to the next episode , Yes . Cheers , Ned . 👍✌

As you were showing those samples early in the video I noted that they were quite jagged, river rocks are tumbled and round. so I was thinking you'd come across an old mine sooner or later depending on how far you went and yep... you found it! great video Jason. 1:05 Traditionally, the charcoal from the stalks is still used to make ceremonial and protective face paints, and among the Ditidaht and neighboring groups, it was equally significant to red ochre as a symbolic link to the spirit world. Native American peoples such as the Tlingit and Haida have used the plant as traditional medicine for ailments such as adult-onset diabetes, as well as rheumatoid arthritis.[8] The plant has been used ceremonially by the Tlingit, Tsimshian, and Haida people residing in Southeast Alaska and coastal British Columbia. A piece of Devil's club hung over a doorway is said to ward off evil. The plant is harvested and used in a variety of ways, most commonly as an oral tea in traditional settings, but also poultices and ointments.[9] Native Americans also dried and powdered the bark for use as a deodorant[10] and used the mashed berries to clean hair.[11] Because devil's club is related to American ginseng, some people try to market the plant as an 'adaptogen'. The plant has been harvested for this purpose and sold widely as "Alaskan ginseng". Despite some morphological similarities between the araliaceous members Panax ('true' ginseng), Eleutherococcus senticosus ("Siberian ginseng") and devil's club, the different genera are chemically diverse.[citation needed]
