Hi Mick, it's an older Patriot x1, we took off the RTT. Fitted a Bundatop RTT that is powered. Much better solution.

How does it work if somebody else has an exploration permit over the area you want to detect on ? Do you need their approval or don’t people worry about that ?

If you prospect or fossick for gold in any part of WA and you don’t have a permit, you will most likely find yourself in a whole lot of legal pain. There is a Gold Squad to worry about and then there is the likelihood of another prosecutor who has a permit for that area finding you on a site he has paid for. A 12 week permit used to be around $40 and you need to apply well ahead of when you want to go.

@@robertbanks8076 I have since found out that you firstly need a Miners Right if you want to go metal detecting. You also need to get permission from the tenement holders . You should also advise the property owners. There are some other requirements about how much you can take and information you have to provide about any finds .

That’s great that you have looked into the ins and outs. The advantage of doing the whole process, by the book, is that when you invest time in the research and the full process you are very likely to get at least some gold if not a lot of gold. And 10 to 12 weeks of prospecting on a good lease can be very ‘contagious’. LOL.
