GOLD PROSPECTING the DUNOLLY GOLDFIELDS

On this adventure I travel out to the Dunolly Goldfields, land of the giant nuggets. Back in the 80's we searched these goldfields for it's riches, back then it wasn't uncommon to see bulldozers pushing the old timers diggings to detect below, it's somewhat sad now as that history has been smoothed over, leaving the bush scared with the dozer marks still visible today. But that's all in the past now and today I'm chasing Dunolly Gold.

Do these gold specific detectors still signal on non-gold, yet metallic targets?

They sure do, the tone is different, but you have to dig all targets. They can discriminate between ferrous and non ferrous targets, but not many prospectors use it. The GPX6000 is super sensitive and just loves tiny lead shot. Cheers Pete

@PetesGoldAdventures is it a different tone like the low boop for iron vs the higher beep for metallic targets on something like the Equinox series detectors? They provide 3 different tones between iron/metal/gold?

It's more like up or down tones mellow or harsh tones, gold and lead are mellow and gold over 2 grams can be an inverted signal, down then up, over time you sort of get an ear for it.

Well done Pete..... All detectors love lead shot 🤣😝 On a side note, some people think that they will get rich from this hobby 😝😝 But, like we all know, Nope, by the time you add up all your expenses you will probably, unless you are really lucky, you will never even pay for your detector let alone fuel, but I really enjoy just getting out on the big kids treasure hunt 😂 Thanks for all your efforts and videos Cheers mate 👍🤓✌️

Thanks Gavin, they sure do love the lead shot and now I have to deal with the little bird shot. I've been pretty lucky over the years, every detector I've had has paid for it's self and the SD2000 actually bought me a brand new GP3000. I've found a 2.1oz nugget in the 80s and since about 2007 I've found 3 patch's all exceeding 2oz's and lots of smaller one's. I'm lucky to live in the middle of the goldfields and have gold producing areas within 5 minutes in all directions. Biggest thing is to enjoy what your doing and don't feel you've failed if you come home empty handed. Enjoy your next hunt mate. Cheers, Pete

Always nice to take a bit of gold home Pete and the 6 gives you the best possible chance of any machine out there. .6 is not a bad result from 4 bits. I got 11 yesterday for just over half a gram, now that's small stuff 😅. I've dug shot at over a foot deep, that's heartbreaking depth 😂. Great work mate 👍

The 6000 is doing a great job, if there's gold around it will lock onto it. I've been getting nice bits lately, not many have been sub .1g which is nice, although I'd like to crack a gram with it. Good going there Pete, nice haul of gold there, that area is sure hard to recover the good stuff, been twice with ZERO count, maybe you have to show me some tricks on how to get some I have no clue on how to use the 6, hopefully the SUBS w'end might break my spell, I would be happy with a DOT ..
