This brings back so many good memories of the Sierra games. Kings Quest...Police Quest...Space Quest...I loved all of them

This makes me think back on the many Sierra adventure titles my Dad and I played through together when I was a young lad. Brings back a lot of good memories of us sitting around our Tandy 1000 trying to figure stuff out.

A true classic. One of the more grounded and educational experiences in the genre. The multiple travel modes was really a cool aspect of the game design.

I loved this game as a kid. With three ways to get to California it had great replay value. I used to fantasize about living in that olde tyme Brooklyn too. It looked so quaint.

Nova Kane Loved it as well. One of my favourite Sierra games. I used to hurry back from school to play a little more. Loved those days.

I played this game a lot when I was nine. Stirred such an appreciation for adventure in me. I've also always liked that the real treasure was finding your lost brother, the gold was just secondary.

This game is missed . I played 20 years ago, all of Larry and Quest . I then did not know that there are also gold rush

Same. When people think of Sierra, it's usually the myriad 'Quest' games and LSL. But they had a few one-off gems like this one.

I remember this game. I was maybe... 4 or so when I started watching one of my older siblings play it. That person on the copy protection screen always frightened me, especially if the password was wrong. One memory that was particularly jarring was when if you failed the CP, you were greeted with a scene of Jerrod getting hung and nothing else. Normally the Game Over music was reserved for if you messed up in-game, but on this one occasion it actually started playing right before it kicked the game back to DOS. I couldn't get out of the room fast enough. All the same, though, it was still fun to play as a kid. I never did figure out how to get into that mine at the end prior to the Internet hitting its stride, though.

Fantastic video. Love how you structured and edited the play-through with all three paths with no commentary. I remember as a kid I died in Panama and basically gave up. Being able to see this to the end, the gold cave... this future we now live in is amazing. Thank you very much.

Police quest was my game. II was the best. GOLDRUSH was great. I can only imagine what this seems like to kids who grew up with Half-Life and Fallout.

I actually miss these crude, low resolution adventure games. The graphics suggested things, but your brain still had to fill in the details.

Thost AGI graphics would have been an absolute PAIN to create using those primitive vector graphics tools of the 80's, I'm surprised this game wasn't using the SCI engine of later Sierra games

$650 dollars for a ticket from New York to California?! That's almost $24,000 in 2024! (And from what I've been able to find, it is a lot higher than what one would have actually paid in those days.)

Santo Tan You mean striking it rich? There was a sequel called “Depression Quest”-Jerrord’s descents are living in the Great Depression. The game takes them from Brooklyn Heights, the family moved back to NY and bought a lot of property, back to Jake’s land. The route is taken over land and you see tons of desolate land, property, people, and more during The Great Depression. Robberies are everywhere, people selling stuff from very little, people are desolate The goal? Reach he mine you and your brother found and discover a chamber below. The game didn’t make it long on the shelves it was simply “too depressing.” A follow up is being made called “Goldrush: “The Great Recession” and it is during the Obama years, but done in same graphics. This time it is the ALASKAN Goldrush like on “Goldrush” on The Discovery Channel. The quest is to get the show produced.

16:45 The song "la cucaracha" is from México. Why was used it if they are in Brazil. What a ignorants! This is like if the guy comes to USA and plays the England anthem.
@John-jz5yv5 жыл бұрын
Stop being so millennial.
@oppie474 жыл бұрын
@Sebastián P. It would have to be the French anthem because Americans would recognize the British anthem as “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHzNaHmCnJiKjKM “Rule Brittania” would also do the trick as there are no Americanized verses to it and we Americans think of it as being quintessentially British.
