Sweet finds guys, I just picked up the 705 about a month ago and scored a silver earring on the very second target I got, the signals are so clear and tones are more like flute notes! I bought the one with the 7.5 khrz 9" coil and will also be picking up the 18.75 in the near future for nuggett hunting here in Alaska. I'm totally Minelab now, sorry Fisher. LOL

You are correct, as some tabs and rings have same ID.

I agree my friend. Many of the ladies thin gold band rings read below what most pull tabs register on ID meter. Last week I was at Lake Tahoe in a corner of a beach full of pull tabs. Must have dug 30 before I started trying to identify the correct readout of most of them. 12/20 - 12/27 on my ID screen of the CTX 3030. So I started digging the 12/teens and popped a cool looking.ladies 14K yellow gold band with a 1/3 karat diamond. Sometimes it pays to play the odds. Video coming soon.

I just bought a used 705 gold used. It has all your "Gerry's Detector" stamps all over the pamphlets and brochures. I realize you are a local to me here in the valley. I'd like to come by sometime and see your shop/setup sometime! Also, minelab (for whatever bizarre reason) just closed their youtube account so all the videos are just gone. The one I was needing for this weekend was the quickstart guide to gold with the 705 (it had Hoagland in it), but as of yesterday, that vid is gone. I hope to see more of those types of vids from ya. Hope we do good camping this cold weekend! ;)

I used to have a really old Garrett but it's out of date, no LCD screen just bunch of nobs and one tone, so I wanted to find a detector that can find relics, rings, coins and as well as gold all in one that has a good price and I just found the detector for me, can't go wrong with the X-Terra 705 gold pack. thanks guys.

If you reject pull tabs you'll miss some gold too though. and you never know when it could be small sterling. When in doubt dig it out!

1st!!! Gerry, I know minelab makes great detectors but as I like detecting not only dirt, but also the water in lakes, rivers, and the beach, so I prefer the AT Pro. I know minelab has the ctx3030 that will do the same,but I'm on disability so I know I'll nevet be able to afford one. Happy Hunting. Hell I'm still trying to figure out how to afford a propointer,lol.

What settings is he using to find the gold in quartz and gold coins etc? I;ve find that the gold pack is kinda gimmicky and not actually great or even good at finding 1oz gold coins, let alone gold in quartz! Sub at best? If you have found a setting that works better, would love to know it...
