First time I listen to her. Watched her on tv in my youth but I was too young. Now I see the abysmal gap between Past Leaders and today's. She speaks like a Leader one with the superior intelligence Hamas could never destroy. Her face is the one of a very ancient Soul. Her voice is very tender, warm. No leader today since Margaret Thatcher can speak that way, ponderate, diving in History like a dolphin to resurface with Graceful Words that only come from Truth. Exceptional Lovely Woman.

putting any political stance aside, the execution of this interview is outstanding and a kind we do not see today: calm, clear, and specific questions presented in slow paced, measured tone followed by interviewer silence to facilitate interviewee's ability to listen, process, think, and reply in full with a thoughtful, slow-paced answer we need more of this today

It's called the "long form" interview". Serious questions, sometimes difficult questions, but not ambush or gotcha questions.

That was possible because the market was not saturated the way it is today. Now there are a gazillion "news" channels competing for the attention of people distracted by TikTok and Instagram reels, so it's the survival of the loudest and the angriest. This interview on KZbin has only 141K views. The people are the problem. We live in an era of rage addiction.

This is Golda’s history. Absolutely ridiculous. 700k Palestinian refugees fled or were forced from their homes and villages during the 1948 war and were never allowed back (in hopes of Israel creating an ethnic & religious majority in the land- the definition of ethnic cleansing). Even now, these refugees cannot go back. They still have their keys to their houses. At the same time, Israel brings people from all over the world to settle on that land (many who have other nationalities). The Palestinians now live within an apartheid situation, without access to a military, airport, movement, commerce, energy, water, etc..

Shalom. Thanks for to share this document. Great respect for our best Prime Minister for ever. In his book " My Life" the autobiography, published by Futura Publications Limited, 1975, Mrs. Golda Meyer register some words in pages 51 until 53 his voyage from New York to Palestine in a boat called S.S. Pocahontas. it was about 23, May 1921 and they stoped one Ponta delgada, Azores Islands. There she meet a tiny Sephardi Jewish Community (some thirty people at all) which was extremely observant. She wrote that " the Rabi has died several years earlier and the Community- like my grand father- was worried about the possibility of violating the Jewish dietary laws that it decided to forgo eating meat permanently... I remember touring the pretty porto town, enjoying the mild climate and the lovely unfamiliar scenery..." Because I am from azores I think that, may be my grand grandfather was there as part of that jewish group. Today in Ponta Delgada it is possible to visit the old synagogue on downtown. It was an amazing testimony.

@jereuter01 Not to mention that even the "right-wing" Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, has recognized Palestine's right to exist, while the Palestinians refuse to reciprocate. If you like living in the stone age so much, you have plenty of choices. In Israel, being a "radical" means putting some trailers on some hilltops or building a fence. In Palestine, strapping a bomb to your chest and detonating it in a pizza parlor to get some concubines in paradise is "normal." Sick moral relativism.

A strong, common-sense woman and great leader. The money she single-handedly raised in the US for Israel before and during the War of Independence is credited with being indispensable to the state's creation, and its victory in the war. It's a true shame that her self confidence was excessive on the eve of the Yom Kippur War, as she ignored numerous internal warnings that the Arabs were about to launch a major united attack. Siding with those advisers who disregarded the threat, she failed to adequately prepare the army and the reserves -- leading to the nearly fatal results of the war, that were only averted thanks to some heroic military feats (like Arik Sharon's sensational Suez crossing) and Pres. Nixon's decision to send Israel a huge airlift of weapons of all kinds -- including tanks, APC's and airplanes. Unfortunately, her last memory was that of the Yom Kippur disaster.

Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, et al, refuse to accept Palestine Arabs for three reasons. First, the Palestine Arabs are the excuse used to foment hatred against Israel and the existence of a Jewish state. Also, Arabs aren't a united people in any way. Yes, they have the same religion and the same language, but they're still divided against one another. They always have been. Mostly it can be described as tribal differences and allegiances. In the past, these were distinct tribes that fought one another for control of water, and other resources, now some of that has been replaced by national, and political tribes. Meaning there aren't other Arab or Muslim nations that want to accept these Palestine Arabs into their nations. Second, they won't give them refugee status and allow them to emigrate because they don't want them either. They also don't want to allow them into their borders, because they fear Israel not allowing them to return and then they would be responsible for the refugee camps, and the welfare of these people, and then they couldn't really blame Israel for the conditions in which they would live. Third, as Golda Meir said, "as an instrument against Israel". Meaning all nations that oppose Israel, and simply because of antisemitism.

@7:53 Something that never gets mentioned: Jordan's population was only 300 000 in 1948. This was a country 5 times the size of Israel. Why didn't they annex the West Bank after the war and absorb the refugees between 1948 and 67 while it was under their control? As Golda says they were strategically not resettled so they (Jordan and all the other Arab countries) could use The West Bank and the unsettled refugees as a ''weapon'' against Israel.

Golda was a very wise Prime Minister who exhibited tremendous CHAZAK! AM ISRARL CHAI! For the greater security needs of Israel, I am in earnest prayer for “Bibi” to successfully win in the March Election. May Israel and the Jewish covenant people at large prosper in every way. May antisemitism be exposed and defeated in all its forms. Shalom!!!

The problem, as I see it, is that the Arabs that were living in the area that became Israel are not accepted by the Arab countries around them. That may well be for the reasons Meir claims it is, but the result still is that they have no where to go. And Israel is not a religious state but an ethnic state. Many Jews, as I understand it, are not religious but they are still singled out because of their ethnicity. That ethnicity may be a social construction, but so is a the Palestinian identity. The bottom line is that they have to learn to share the land because they have no where else to go. What I do not understand is why Palestinians have such birth rates when they live in such miserable conditions. That seems irresponsible to me and recipe for inviting suffering on their children.

I will try to summarize the situation in another way Imagine yourself now in your home with five members of your family, and people come to you who were expelled and persecuted in a place far away from you. They tell you that this land on which you built your house dates back to my ancestors 3,000 years ago !!! And I will be fair with you, only two people can stay in this house and the rest can live with their relatives away from us Then the new occupier comes and makes your life difficult. He controls your life, where you go, and the places you are allowed to go to Then another person comes to you from a place far from this conflict and speaks with ease. Why did you accept these circumstances? Why are you violent and resisting for this home? You love to die, go and join the rest of your homeless family Don't you see that your children are suffering? You don't even have the right to fight for your home Shame on our humanity !!😔

@@adnenchouibi7945 this argument only fuels the current conflict. Arabs can’t exterminate Jews: they have to learn to live with them but they don’t want to do that.

@@عليهشام-ذ1ق I don't know Arabic, but if I had to guess, I would guess that that means something like "death to the Jews," which only illustrates my point that the root of the conflict seems to be that the Arabs of the area just don't want to live in peace with the Jews.

@@adnenchouibi7945Isn't that precisely what the Muslims have done in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Kashmir? Iran was historically Zoroastrian, the rest Hindu/Buddhist. Muslims systematically wiped out those people.

Helen Mirren did a terrible portrayal of Golda, it was British Helen smoking in a mask, (make-up was good) she didn't even try to change her voice, they should have hired Meryl Streep.
