The tongue doesn't emit what we call noise, nonsense, no tongue is actually speaking. The vocal chords twang and cause a ripple effect in the Aether much like a violin twangs it's chords but again the violin isn't omitting anything any noise. No one is actually speaking, but the ripples in the Aether what we call sound waves are picked up by a biological instrument called the ear, and the ripples bounce of the ear drum so to say. Philosophy is a very wide area, a very wide subject, but the best definition after 6 years of studying philosophy, for me, is that philosophy is a study of ideas. Philosophy is not a science, and there is very good reason for that, any science has to have in its foundations a few axioms, propositions that are taken as such, without the need for proof, or evidence... Philosophy has no such axioms, which is explained in the "Introduction in philosophy" by Eugen Fink... Of course, some may claim that logic is science, logic is part of philosophy, or at least that is how I studied that field, but logic (and perhaps math) is just an "organon", a tool that science is using.

A good dialectical perspective. Philosophy can be viewed as part of the humanities. On the other hand Philosophy is a discipline in the interdisciplinary cognitive science. Along the spectrum with anthropology and psychology because social signalling primates require religio. As for metaphysics the learned ignorant might be agnostic.
@ozymandiasultor9480 Жыл бұрын
@@bennieb8586 I am an agnostic atheist, I don't believe in the claims of religious people. And metaphysics, I had to go over all that torture, reading and learning metaphysics to find out that it is a dead end, that metaphysics has no real worth, and all the metaphysics can be thrown in a bucket.
@jagpro91 Жыл бұрын
The best definition of philosophy is in the name itself and doesn't need to be changed, it literally means "love of wisdom." A "study of ideas" is too clinical and detached, whereas "love of wisdom" better sets out the purpose of philosophy and the relationship between philosopher and philosophy.

@Cheximus Жыл бұрын
@@timoxyz1466 that's interesting, can you perhaps expand upon that? Or point me in the direction of some reading?
@timoxyz1466 Жыл бұрын
@@Cheximus In Carl Jungs work, there is the ego-complex and the opposing force the shadow(ego-dystonic complex). The ego complex would be best summed up as your ideal self and the shadow the worst version of you. Since both of those things exist in almost every individual they fight for 'being you' so to speak resulting in the usual up and downs of life and ultimately in the hedonistic treadmill trap. You will find yourself in the middle of both, every time you near your ideal self the shadow will hinder you and throw you back.(just look at your life there you can clearly see it) Thus resulting what other traditions call karma or karmic game. (They kinda just explain it bad it isn't do good get good. Rather do egoistic stuff and the opposing shadow will be pissed about that) Now once you realize that every egoic action has its consequences you can choose to get rid of the harsh ideals of the ego or almost free yourself from it entirely which is then called enlightenment in spiritual traditions. (escaping the karmic game) If something needs further explanation just let me know. Carl Jungs work and other depth psychology as well as Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and e.g. the Tibetan book of the dying + Timothy learys interpretation of it are great sources to expand on this but you gotta puzzle it together your self and most importantly try to find this karmic sequence in your life :)

This is why even small gains can be thrilling. Humbling experiences along the way. My approach has been more organic. I still end up in the same places as the sage's teach. So it feels like I am validating their philosophies for myself. But some things I learned the hard way. And some lessons can be expensive. It is always better, I would argue, to first survey the wisdom of the ages before you plan a strategy and set out on your life-journey. Could've saved me much trouble n woe. I can see now. 7:10 - This is related to the purpose of Socratic method. Consider: nothing worth knowing, is worth teaching. Socrates had a particular syntax for resolving a discussed subject, designed to lead the listener to a natural conclusion close enough to the point Socrates trained them towards, which resulted in the individual feeling as though the revelation happened organically. This concept functions upon the principle of unable to FORCE any state which is truly meant to be. This is why the great philosophers condensed such large concepts into concise "quotes". The quotes are agreeable at face value, but when an individual experiences circumstances and inward reflections that lead to the comprehension of the topic. The quote serves as a confirmation that the individual is valid in their conclusion. "Philosophical aphorisms are the answers to future philosophers' questions." -Profound Consciousness This "modern philosophy" is actually revolutionary. Modern life has less time and attention available to delegate to the classic book reading or lecture listening methods of learning these concepts, and the Socratic method principle within this reverse order learning process, improves the quality of the lesson upon completion! Be well.
