At the start of the season Salah was absolutely phenomenal but he declined (possibly because he had to play so much) and now against Real he wasn't really harmless but also not able to score. I feel like Diaz really shined with his dribblings and Klopp shoulda kept him on. Jota has also gotten really passive I feel like. Mane might be a little more consistent but he's also not great. So on paper Liverpool has great offensive players but they just don't perform consistently and especially not when it's important. As someone said in the stream: Liverpool have been in three finals and scored no goals at all (besides penalties of course). All I wanted was a good match today but it was kinda disappointing. Honestly I think neither team did enough to deserve to win but if I had to choose after those 95 minutes I'd pick Liverpool. In the end all that matters is goals though so yeah in that aspect Real deserves to win.

Weird how the season that started so well had become a legacy destroyer for salah. Carabao final, FA Cup final, Afcon final, CL final, World Cup playoff (both legs)... all blanked and played poorly. Crédit to Jürgen and the boys for a tremendous campaign. They became the second side after Bayer Leverkusen in 2002-03 to lose the UCL final, lose the league title by a point and also reach the cup final (which Bayer lost but Jürgen won, after drawing in normal time). It is still a tremendous accomplishment to do it in BOTH domestic Cups.(especially for Bayer who spent less than Liverpool). As all the competitions are now over, it is safe to say that Man City are the best team in the country and Real Madrid are the best team in Europe (based on this season's results). Lastly, each of the three european competitions were won by non-PL sides.

For people confused as to why Real's first goal was disallowed, here's one of the conditions for the current offside rule from the FA: "rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent." "A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball, including by deliberate handball, is not considered to have gained an advantage..." Say what you will about the rule but the refs are correct, the ball that comes off fabinho is a deflection, it's offside by that definition.

This season just proves it's too much games for a single season. The players faded more and more. 0-1 games in Prem for Liverpool, shambolic efficiency in final. Despite playing well Liverpool didn't have the needed subs and we only got attack depth in the second part, but even for Diaz who came late it was hard. Every offensive player from LFC basically had better first half of the season than the second. We're not City and don't have that long bench, same applies to Real. I think that's the reason why Liverpool won nothing major despite domination all season and only losing 4 games whole season.

Think the man of the match was actually a wrong decision, he saved one great shot which was still pretty much straight at him as were most of the others. Carvajal or Valverde were much more deserving, they were outstanding in nullifying Luis Diaz and Andy Robertson who produced nothing in the game.
