I’m rooting for Cynthia Erivo. After seeing the movie, I purchased the soundtrack and listened to Defying Gravity on my couch. Just reliving that scene in my head made me cry like baby. The power. The vulnerability. The voice. She sang live while doing her own stunts. I mean, wow. She took an already iconic character and made it even more iconic. I would love for her to get recognized for her brilliant work.

I watched Maria twice back to back yesterday and again for a third time this morning. Jolie's performance was absolutely extraordinary! I dare to say that this film showcases her greatest work to date! No other actress in contention for an Academy Award nomination in the lead actress category comes close to the brilliance of Jolie's flawless performance! 💯🎭🏆

Wished they'd talked more about the first two mentioned, Anora and Maria. I've heard MM in Anora being the frontrunner from almost anyone that has seen it. Jolie seems to be getting traction, but in a rollercoaster type way. I feel, if Jolie is nominated, it'll be a challenging type nom where the nomination is the reward? But haven't heard from many that have seen it. Its feeling a bit like Maestro last year? Definitely a difficult category that I think will be more telling once the films are released in whatever capacity.

i think its foolish to assume that Angelina - in a picture nowhere near best picture - is a hard lock in a field so competitive. Especially for the film maria which is very isolating and provokes extremely polarizing reactions

Mikey is still looking like the frontrunner even though theres no legitimate narrative with her, shes super young and idk if I was blown away by her chararcter or even the film itself. Angelina is falling in the polls...Nicole might be rising after winning NBR. Karla Sofia has been stagnant but there is definite momentum in the coming weeks since EP got in the AFI top 10. Cynthia was great but I dont know if Part 1 is the movie she gets in for, lets talk again next year for Part 2. Demi might be dead in the water, The Substance just hasnt been doing as great as people wanted it to and if Lupita couldnt get in for Us and Toni couldnt for Heredity, what are we doing here.... I have watched the Oscar's every year that I can remember. When I was a teenager I even listened to it on the radio because our local ABC channel also broadcasted it on FM radio. It has been what I looked forward to all year for a very long time. But I swear to God. If they nominate a MAN in the Best Actress category, I will Never Watch Again.
