Walkthrough of the 1993 Sega Mega Drive / Genesis game - Golden Axe 3. Me playing as Kain and WolverineRage as Chronos.

Man this game was top of the top back then, the graphics the music, I still can remember how it felt, through the now dated appearance. It wasn't very hard considering how tough games were back then, but was just about right, and fun! A jewel that will remain as such in spite of time passing by=)

Many people are saying this was the worst Golden Axe game, but honestly, it's my favorite. I love the character design and the gameplay, even if it's supposedly closer to "typical" beat em ups. Also every information source about it says it was only released in Japan and through the Sega Channel, but I clearly remember playing it on a cart back in the day in one of the console clubs we used to have. We definitely didn't have the Sega Channel service, since I live in Europe, so I guess they must've imported it, but back in the day in the country I come from, that was a near impossible thing to do! Now I realize how lucky I was.

I read and heard Golden Axe III was not received well back when it came out. Saying it was the worst in the series and having "bland graphics". Game plays find to me and looks far better than the first two. It's my favorite of the trilogy!

It's okay, but nothing special, though don't think G.A. III was that "bad" to the point where it should have been denied a stateside release. It was kind of like a poor man's version of the great game that was Golden Axe: The Revenge Of Death Adder in a way, and is worth a try at least. But at least the game eventually got released here via the Sega Genesis collections, which was good though.

I can't even begin to tell you have much memories I have playing this game I got to the final level once and got a game over at the beginning so I never saw the ending but I still just couldn't stop playing.

Here’s the secret to getting the good ending: for every hero break you break out of the spell during the course of the game (up to 3), that’s another continue you can lose before defeating the final boss and still get the good ending. So if you save 0, you can’t lose any continues before beating the final boss, if you save one hero you can lose one continue and before beating the final boss, etc.

It's a shame Sega deemed Golden Axe III unfit to be released physically in North America. It's actually quite good, and would have been a solid inclusion to the Sega Genesis' NA library.

While it never got a physical genesis release, they sold it on the Wii shop. That's how I found the game. Such a fun game to play with friends

I played this earlier, picked the panther, figured out that he can jump and dive down.and does a foward and like back slap...the conan looking dude spins the sword ..and fire comes from it..I haven't figured that out.

team-attack and magic = Place both characters face to face and wait till they start to nod. Now you can press "attack" to do a powerful move. If you and your partner have ten or more potions together you can press "magic" instead to do a super powerful magic-attack. The giant for example summons a huge stone golem that stomps on your enemies.

Ahh the grand old tradition from the 80s & 90s, of sending the sequels downhill. Back then we didn't pay star actors 70 million dollars to reprise their roles in the sequel. Instead we just made a sequel set ten years later, or starting the best friend. And sent it right to DVD/VHS. Some video games got off light in this area, but others like this, got a quarter of the budget, developers just hoping to sell it from name alone. Good old days.

i gotta say you guys are a hell of a lot better that this kind of game than me and my dad were when we played golden axe 1 and 2 and streets of rage 1 and 2 when i was aid. most of the time we were hemmoraging lives and by the time we got to the final boss i lost my last life and dad ended up giving me his controler to try and finish off the boss. which most of the time i failed to do

My fav of the Golden Axe series! Playing this Ultimate Genisis Collection is like a breath of fresh air from these current gen games. I mean it's either shoot, grind, or run around an open world nowadays and PS4 is completely useless only real difference is the price tag and graphics and fyi graphics don't make the game, game play does.

Superb sountrack and jugability. Exelent character design. Ugly backgrounds and levels. Repetitive enemies. Mediocre magics. Overall a very solid beat em up. Maybe deserves a remaster hack with beter backgrounds and more enemies.
