GOLDEN EAGLE SIGHTING IN ENGLAND!!!

In this video I talk about how I witnessed a golden eagle in England, now slow down before you start typing in the comment section.
in the video I show 2 pieces of evidence to prove my point, by the way a golden eagle hasn't been seen in Leicestershire since 1850, so I would be considered lucky.

Very interesting. I always say the best advice, no matter where you are, is to always be camera ready. You never know what you could stumble across. I was recording one red tail hawk in a tree(my backyard!) and the mate flew in, landed on the tree greeted him, chatted a bit and took off again. I was amazed I caught it. Got to see the wingspan up-close and how they can land on tiny branches. Wow!

A golden eagle in Leicestershire! That’s absolutely fantastic! I live in Scotland so as far as UK wildlife goes we have some of the best. I have seen both golden eagles and white tailed sea eagles on mull and skye.Even seen the white tailed sea eagles nest with chicks.I found a family of peregrines living on a tall building in my town which i was super excited about .No one knew they were there. theres peregrines in loads of UK towns and cities now. My father and i found a freshly fledged family of peregrines out in the middle of nowhere in 1985. This was when they were practically non existent so finding a family of 5 was absolutely amazing although my father told me not to tell anyone as game keepers and pigeon fanciers both went out their way to kill them. It was murder as a child finding the fastest creature on the planet and not being able to tell anyone. A few years back a pod of orcas swam up the river clyde practically right outside my window but i never seen them. Was gutted as i have always really wanted to see them. The most apex predator on the planet. Well except for us.

My husband and I saw a golden eagle in a wooded village called Bushmead, Bedford. I've been around Buzzards all my life,and this bird was twice the size! It landed on the road Infront of us at a peice of carrion. I let out a shreek and it took off...massive wingspan,and fluffy legs,huge tallons!! We are avid bird watchers and are compelled to find him again!!!

Very interesting and I would like to think you did see a Golden Eagle that day as many raptors are making a come back in many parts of the UK. I have been on holiday to North & North West of Scotland a few times over the years and I still hope I get some footage of an eagle one day. Many years back we were driving on a narrow road with high rocks on each side, perhaps near Scourie. A very dark shadow fell over the car. I was in the passenger seat and when I looked up I believe it was a Golden Eagle. The wing span was huge then is was gone. There was no way we could stop, even if I could have got my camera out in time, I can only say, I am sure it was a Golden Eagle but I have no photo to prove it. I must say your bird call sounded very much that of the Golden Eagle so hope you will let us know more. Have a good week. Julie.

I believe you, hope next time you get a photo of one, one day. And yes I'll try and let you know more, btw this video I made, I didn't but all my hard work into it. But I will be making documentaries of certain birds so I'll be making longer videos, ones with better looks of the birds, higher quality shots of the animal, and overall, better videos. Good evidence, first impressions of photo is hard to say for definite, however the feathers on the legs are a good indicator (Hopefully you’ll have a better camera next time). The call is a classic and put it beyond reasonable doubt for me. Top job. A good photo would be great, as it will aid ID, this maybe have been an escape or a young bird migrating. Note the white tailed eagles released from the isle of white have been seen all across England- travelling north up both the east and west of the country and I believe spotted travelling back south again.

Aside from the hermit crab videos, lol, I have caught some amazingly rare footage of red tail hawks, a mating pair, and how they interact with each other. Now that it is spring I hope to get back outside and continue with the nature and wildlife. Believe me, you never know what you might capture! Always be camera ready is the best advice. Good luck!

Amazing footage! The call definitely sounds like the Golden Eagle. I have the Red Tail Hawks on my channel that sound more like the Common Buzzard. The common buzzard (and the closely related red tailed hawk) has a variety of calls, the "mew" is only the most prominent of them. Some of the calls can sound very eagle-like, especially when communicating with the mate close to the nest.

I have watched the video and the last piece of evidence. I have to say three things about this sighting. The first thing I have to say is about the recording, the recording matches the Golden Eagle call. Which is fantastic. The second thing I have to say is about the photo, sadly, It turns out you were looking at a Eurasian Honey Buzzard. The third thing I have to say is about the feather, this is 100% a Golden Eagle feather. Confirming that what you heard and saw was indeed a Golden Eagle, you should submit the recording on eBird (its a website that allows you to submit sightings/recordings/videos of rare birds)

A honey buzzard in Leicester is rarer then a golden eagle, also honey buzzards have light brownwings with a grey head, this one in the photo is dark brown head to toe.

@@thewildlifephotographer297 I was driving along through the Brecon beacons at midday and about 100 metres away a huge bird of prey came down and landed on a sheep carcass. From that distance I could see it had huge yellow feet, and about a 6ft to 8 ft wing span.

@@thewildlifephotographer297 They were circling over my back garden for most of the day. At one point seagulls were trying to attack one....very large and very distinctive wing marking on the underside.
