What a beautiful cat! The best are often the most humble. How fortunate to have been able to talk so extensive with him before his untimely passing. Swing on Mulgrew!!

Mr. Miller simultaneously represents the direct lineage from Tatum through Oscar but also represents the integration of all the more modern non-diatonic harmonic approaches including non-diatonic intervalic lines with a focus on all the chromatically altered harmonies and their resulting linear implications, re-harmonization but what makes him musical is a relaxed focus that he mentioned to me in my one conversation with him.

Mulgrew is of the biggest influences for me to learn and practice piano. I keep listening to his live albums and always get touched by his playing. Just so regretful that i didn't get to see him live. What a wonderful and warm character he is. RIP. Your music lives forever Mr. Miller

Hey Jonathan, Great interview of one of my favorite humans. I've seen many Mulgrew interviews and I've holding this one till I had the time, and today there's a blizzard in NYC. I've got his recording's but I miss the gigs and the interactions after so much. And when I think of him, my next thoughts are about James Williams and Harold Mabern. All of them gone too early./

Yes I have that cd by Wilson also and it's a great album; too bad the personnel that made that album didn't get together and make another; it's a masterpiece. 12-22-23.

Very good performance. I really like the left hand harmony but also the long lines in his right hand improvisation. His style was somewhat similar to Kenny Barron which is also one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
