It's really swell how you review boots from across the spectrum of price, quality, and prospective use. No one would mistake these for Grant Stone or Viberg but at this price point given what you have pointed out in the make up, these are worth a good look. Thanks for these efforts. Well done.

Picked up a pair of these in brown almost 6 months ago. They are true to size, for me , and they're quite comfortable. The plastic welt is not an issue for me. Sure it would be better if it was leather. But no one will notice. In terms of its resoleablility, I'm sure the sole will last for quite a while, given that it is part of my regular rotation. They have patinad really well. Good value.

These boondockers were my entry into heritage boots not bad imo

You've passed me a while back on the number of boots owned (which I'm now starting to reduce) but they make up a little over half my excessive footwear collection and I own a lot of other stuff including dress shoes and also leather trainers/chukkas/sneakers/approach shoes from brands such as Scarpa, Loake, Timberland, Artisan Lab, Ecco, Hanwag, Goral and even Reebok. And whenever I wear the cheaper casual footwear I'm always struck by how much lighter and often more comfortable it is then my premium brand boots and how much I enjoy wearing them. Which is probably echoing the comments made by you that decent but cheaper footwear is still good and we mostly don't need thick leather boots built like tanks which have a lot of drawbacks like weight and price and break in period. Half decent leathers and modest materials but decent construction works very well and for most people make more financial sense than premium leather boots. I enjoy wearing my multiple pairs of Crockett and Jones, Cheaney, Grant Stone and Red Wing boots (to name a few) but if I was entirely practical and not a weird person who's into boots, a couple of pairs of these would make much more sense. And would be financially much more sensible.

I brought a pair for work about a year ago (didn't want to use my expensive boots), it turned out better than I thought. The leather has shaped to my foot and it is pretty comfortable. I definitely would buy it again for my work as a finish carpenter. I plan on resoling it myself and putting in a leather welt as well as a leather midsole (want practice in cobbling). All and all a good boot, not quite high quality but still a good boot.

I bought this for my 16 year old son 2 years back (his own choosing)..he's 18 now and he's still loving it..Mind you I also gave him a Loake Chelsea, a Trickers Eaton & a Junkard service boots for him in couple of years (since his foot size actually the same as mine & i gave him what i dont really like) yet he still uses his Golden Fox for his daily boots.. After watching this vid now i understand why 😂

I absolutely love these boots. I don't own this color yet but soon I will. I have a pair of the darker fudge and a pair of black ones plus I own a pair of the moc toe boots all for casual wear not I repeat not for work but I had used the brown ones for light yard work and some light mechanic work. They clean up really easy don't blow a gasket but I used a little dish soap and a old toothbrush then used leather lotion to rehydrate them then a few hours later wore them out to a casual event. To be honest I wear them way way more than I do with my two pairs of Thursday captain boots and to be brutally honest they are way more comfortable than Thursday boots right out of the box if golden fox put more effort into the sole and welt materials they could be a bigger player in the boot world. Unfortunately of course the price would jump up. Right now they are terribly underrated I wish someone would be honest about Thursday they are not comfortable as hyped up to be realistically you are not going to wear Thursday captain on a day to day basis to lounge in at home Thursday boots are too dresse and stiff. Shoot I wear the brown golden fox boots more than I do my sneakers

I picked these about a month ago. I got a factory seconds pair for $90. I couldn’t see any glaring issues with them as far as I could tell. I’ve always liked the look of these boots and wanted a lightweight summer boot, so these fit the bill perfectly. These are surprisingly good for the price and very comfortable in addition to being very well constructed. Sure, these don’t match the quality of my more expensive boots, but then I don’t need them to for my needs. You’re not going to find a better pair of GYW, well-constructed, comfortable, and good looking boots, in the $100 range.

I like the silhouette and relaxed look. But I am not a fan of that outsole. Good and detailed review like usual Teik. Thank you.

Coulda sworn that shorter pull-tabs like that you are just supposed to grip the tab and not stick a finger through? I am not entirely sure.

Not sure either. It's weird how some boots are designed differently like that. Why not just design them with the same tab and keep it simple? Like a lot of different designs to other stuff these days.

I hadn’t thought of that but frankly it’s hardly long enough to grab as a pull tab anyway

As for someone who grew up in the Pacific, I consider this the robust, macho, big brother of Clark's desert boots. And yes, the name came from the word "bundok" from the Filipino language, which literally means "mountain".

I dunno, looks a bit meh to me... the plastic welt really stands out. You can get other Chinese boots with sturdier construction, leather welt, and all leather underfoot for about the same price, and while this model is attractive it's not entirely unique.
