Amazing that this tractor has the same engine as my Landini 10000 - A6.354 with only 105HP. Modern tractors need 150HP for 4 furrows yet this old dude makes easy job with nice and deep plowing.

I would like to say that I was the first person to drive a Massey Ferguson 1200 which was the very first tractor to be shown at the Lincolnshire Show. I worked for J A Gagg & Sons at the time who bought the tractor. John.

Nice to see an operator than can set his machine up- perfectly- no depth wheel, maximum weight transfer from plough to tractor just as Harry Ferguson intended, perfect trash burial , perfect bout matching, level finish, a pleasure to watch..

An interesting concept. An MF 1100 engine sat above two MF 188 back ends! A good tractor if treated well ( Unlike my neighbours who ran theirs flat out all the time , thrashed into the ground and destroying at least 2 engines in the proccess ) But not without mechanical problems. By the time the replacement 1250 came out they had ironed out most of the problems but by then it seemed to have gone out of fashion and only about 300 1250s were built. A lovely job of ploughing by the way!
@scooby73467 жыл бұрын
They were not 188 back ends. The castings may have been but the innards were 1200. I once had to buy a crownwheel and pinion for a 1200 and they were specific to a 1200. And they were handed. The fronts were different to the back.

Think was 1080 axles,some dry brakes some hydr.
@Mackeson34 жыл бұрын
@@claesmansson9070 Yes if you look at Cowfarmerdan's video about his 1200 he states they were 1080 axles, not 188, I was mistaken!☺️
@jamesbarbour84002 жыл бұрын
The rear axle castings, front and rear were MF 188 items on all MF 1200s, dry brakes all round initially, then wet brakes from about 1977 onward. MF 1250s had MF 595 rear axles all round - roughly an inch longer and also roughly an inch larger diameter outboard reduction gear unit. These axle units also had increased wall thickness in the castings making them heavy duty spec. Whole back end of MF 1250 was beefed up to cope with increased lift capacity and assistor ram linkage was now attached to centre housing casting, completely removing the loading on the top cover as on the MF 1200s. European MF 1080s had square section rear trumpets initially dry brakes then later wet brakes. US equivilent MF 1080s originally had round rear trumpets then changed to square but still with dry brakes then latterly had wet brakes. All square trumpet MF 1080s, US & European had the longer & increased diameter outboard reduction units with increased wall thickness in the trumpets. Only 322 MF 1250s ever made - a much improved tractor but very expensive to produce owing to the bespoke nature and low production numbers at Barton Dock factory, Manchester. An MF 2640 with the later •4 version of the MF 1200 engine initially produced 104 hp (later 110), and was cheaper to buy, built in France and of conventional design. MF 1250s also used the •4 version of the engine and due to increased material in the side skirt and extending the casting down past the crank shaft centre line plus removal of tappet access side covers on RHS of engine gave extra material strength and hence increased rigidity of the engine as a whole which allowed it to be used without a side supporting frame on the MF 2000/2005 series tractors from France. A substantially built engine sump added considerably to overall rigidity of the transaxle as a whole but some MF 2000s did break their backs due to overloading when using large reversible ploughs so casting flanges were increased in thickness as was casting wall thickness, also stronger attachment hardware in form of cap screws versus bolts (I stand to be corrected on that particular point). Reason for the crownwheels being on opposite sides on rear & front axles was so that all four wheels rotated in same direction, same as Muir Hills for example and others. Were this not the case, the two axles would be rotating in opposite directions with 'interesting' results !

Here in the Netherlands the ground pulls so havy that you need to have at least 150 hp to pull a five furrow plow. In this case with 105 hp a four furrow plow is more than enough!

Big difference if 2 wheel drive or 4,1200 is constantly 4 wheel drive + lock if wanted.Used 5 bottom Øverum myself,think adjusted to 16 inch,on hilltops with only clay,tractor could have tendency to start jumping.Now not plowing anymore,just use Kongskilde selfmade 10 metres stubharrow with 310 mm tips on the 40 chisels,so full cut and 9240 in front.
