We've never had a rescue dog this scared before, she's had a really rough start to life. But hopefully with the help of all our dogs, we can help this rescue come out her shell.

I recommend against a harness, it causes their hair to break. I know it's not considered humane, but I suggest a NYLON choke collar also known as a slip collar, not a prong collar. These hang loose when they are off leash, you need to put tags on the ring that you do not connect the leash too, they are comfortable, and practically invisible when they are off leash. Don't use a collar for control, it's for safety. It's there to keep your dog from doing something stupid like running into traffic, and to keep their dog tags on, that's it.

Happy to see you two humans being relaxed and taking it slow and steady with the new family member. ❤ Most of the humans are talking constantly. It’s the same as a dog making noises constantly. You two respect the dogs . Letting them to take the time they need and spending time with them. Thank you for sharing this very special moment with us. 🙏 👵🏻

When I had mine come home, mine would try to eat moths. Little by little, she realized she didn’t need to and then we had to make sure that she didn’t have anything wrong or any kind of larva. She was pretty sick, but she did great she’s doing awesome. They will try to survive anyway they can but I didn’t want to pity her because dogs don’t feel safe when they’re pitied. Things like that I’d have to leave the room to think about.

@@thegoldenkobefamily It also seems to me that Luna was always seeking to be near the Goldie (Kobe?) during her first walk, like if she was feeling more safe with him on her side as her, well, "wingdog". And _that's_ what's heart-warming here: the fact _that_ the "older brother" attitude from your Goldie works, and _how well_ it does work. 🙂 (Edited for clarification.)

Agreed, it isn't always from being hit. Sometimes they can't see that your hand is coming and it gives them a fright. We can see their whole body but they can only see what is in front of them. Also most dogs hate having the top of the head approached first. No trauma is necessary, it's like how kids automatically hate it. Aim for the chest, shoulder or back of the neck. Give some scritches, then stop. If the dog comes to you and asks for more, you are trapped patting forever.

Since I live in North Macedonia, I can tell you the real story. So, we have harsh laws against animal cruelty. The problem is - there are too many stray dogs. So, now "exporting" a.k.a rescuing dogs for the UK is a main business for these shelters. Vets are making a lot money doing this... it's an organized scheme. Good side is, dogs are getting cared in loving families

@@CODA96 and even after letting the dog settle down after a couple days, the dog could still snap. Let’s not worry about every little detail and celebrate that they rescued an animal. Even doing it the way you suggested doesn’t guarantee there won’t be a fight a week later. You have to go with how you’re feeling at that moment. If your gut is telling you for them to meet. @@Garethstruelove, the irony being pure breds now are so inbred, they're often far from perfect. I feel breeding should be regulated until the stray/homeless population is under control (which will probably never happen because SO many people don't spay and neuter). It's shameful and sad. So many animals suffer on account of lousy humans. Sorry, got carried away there, it just makes me really angry. We're *all* God's creatures.

We had a dog like Luna, our wonderful Emma. We got her when she was 3 years old, she was chained to a house in Hungary for all of her life. It took us 3 years (!) to gain her trust, though we had our wonderful dog Gessy - she was just like Kobe: absolutely gentle😊 Gessy taught Emma a lot of dog stuff, but it took Emma 3 years to finally trust us and still she peed herself, when put on a leash until she was about 8 years old. It was a rough, long journey, with lots of tears from my side, until Emma was a „pretty normal“ dog, but it was worth it: when she finally trusted us, she was the funniest dog ever, who made us laugh every day😊 but, as Luna: Emma had very bad separation anxiety and although we trained, it never got better. One year ago we had to put these beautiful dogs to sleep, both on the same day: Gessy developed gastric cancer and Emma suffered from dementia for 1 1/2 years at that time, and was totally deranged. It broke our hearts to let our precious girls go, Gessy was 15 years old and Emma 13 years,❤🎉

My two toms snuggle with me like that every day, so I know _very_ well how behaviour like this is a clear sign of trust (because let's be honest: in the end, cats (in general) are as addicted to snuggling as dogs (in general), innit?). That's why I suppose that for a rescue like Luna, this may have been a big step forward for her to develop trust in you as well as for her to gain self-confidence. So weill done, you! 👍

Wow! I've worked with so many scared cats, terrified of people & being inside, so I recognize many of your techniques. The biggest , most all-encompassing thing that I see you doing is being respectful & honoring of her pace; you are paying intense attention to her signals instead of pushing past them as most people would do. I honor your patience & your deeply compassionate approach.. You are truly miracle workers, who can lead the lost one from a place of terror & uncertainty & unsafeness to another world of feeling safe & loved & free! Bless your kind hearts 💕!
