Golden Update - First Patch

Game Director Jon-Paul Dumont gives an overview of the upcoming changes and bug fixes to expect in the first patch after the Golden update.
These include...
Improved lighting, especially for bigger bases
Ability to mount epic items like the Zarok Torch and Wanderkeg onto the wall
Fixes to reduce enemy patrols in your base
Fixes to reduce enemy animation issues in combat
Better combat and ranged combat enemy behavior
Improved crossbow experience
Fixed white screen issues for some cinematics
Orctown is now easier to find
Networking and crash fixes
Singing should no longer switch your voice
-Added more Mithril weapons to campaign

@@mattblair2 heh, funny thing about that, you're about 5 and a half days late, cause that's how long I've been playing the game by now 🤣 Been having a blast overall, only had 2 real glitches turned into crashes, which I imagine has to do with the amount of resources I left laying around, which was also something I did with Palworld 😅

I’m glad they’re fixing the issue with enemies spawning in bases. I almost rage quit my first game when a horde was attacking me and kept killing me over and over as I kept respawning right back into the fight with no equipment.

Happy to see that it is still being worked on. I have to agree on the lighting: Getting it right is crucial in a mostly dark game. Aside from that, there are a couple of things that I want to see in the game: 1. Calling out a mining resource should automaticall mark it on the map. 2. More POIs need to be added to the map once found. For example, why are the stairs not properly marked on the map? And why is there no text on the map at all?! 3. The map is still extremely bad when it comes to sublayers within a single level. This gets even more confusing when you go straight ahead, but suddenly you are supposed to be on a completely different level / elevation. Any places that change or allow change of level / elevation should show so on the map at least with small up or down arrow. 4. The mentioned change of level / elevation should never occur when just walking straight ahead. This makes no sense at all and such changes should only happen when walking down a slope or using a ladder or stair. I hope they'll get around to fix / change such things.

Return to Moria is a fantastic co-op survival experience with some rough spots that I'm sure will be ironed-out. You could draw a massive crowd if you succeed in creating a compelling extraction mode.

I had no idea this game existed until today. I absolutely LOVE Dwarves and all things Dwarvish, and survival games are my most purchased and played on Steam.....so this game not immediately showing up in my feed/recommended list was very strange....I literally accidentally stumbled upon it and instantly checked to see when it would come out and was amazed it has already been out for nearly a year!!!! After seeing some reviews I decided I wasn't going to buy it because it had quite a few issues....but now I see this update and realized it isn't abandonware and will be buying it first thing tomorrow!!!!

Just started playing the campaign for the first time a few weeks ago. The game is in what I would call a "good game" state. But add some polish and finish things out a bit more and this could become a "great game". I would also highly recommend the devs embrace the modding community and help make that thing. These types of games get so much longevity from a well fostered modding community.

I hope to see more dwarven armor, maybe even a gimli themed set. Or something. I think other than the extra lighting causing darkening... I'd maybe like to see....idk pre made buildings render and spawn less damaged. Things like that. Some wargs got in fight with orcs withing my spawn range and broke wooden floor that had kings brew tank on it and collapsed half building before I actually could tunnel into that room

I'm a new solo player, but I've been watching since beta. I absolutely love your game guys. As a huge LOTR fan it is honestly one of my favourites now. Honestly, well done. It would be really cool if you could add in the ability to build something like a repair kit for when you are on the road and your armour breaks. Especially in the early game, i find myself having to turn back to repair armour because I just can't carry on further without risking dying in a place that I'll find it difficult to get back to. Between the crystal descent and the watcher in the water was one such place. Absolute nightmare to get my stuff back 😂

Thank you for the update and transparency. Love the game, happy I can finally play it on xbox. Some fixes/QoL features I would really like to see are: - camera sensitivity settings. The default is WAY too high and makes the game nearly unplayable. Seriously, please fix that. - option to disable dropping gear on death. I know this is a common mechanic in these kinds of survival games....i absolutely hate it. Several other games like this let you turn that off and I immediately do so when available. Please add this option.

Love the game since picking it up on the PS store, been playing it with my friend who is a diehard LOTR fan and has had no end of fun explaining the massive world of Tolkien’s books that weren’t explored in the films to me as we play. But I’ve a rather big issue that’s impacting my game experience and it’s to do with the Audio. Since I entered the mines of Moria, my game audio broke and now the music sounds extremely scratchy, robotic and laggy in most if not all areas of the game. My Dwarf also speaks in a similar manner - scratchy, laggy and slow. And just today I’ve been exploring Dawrrowdelf and found that my dwarf singing to a Durin Lamp not only doesn’t turn it on even after 3 minutes of nonstop singing, and my dwarf singing is extremely quiet even with voice settings turned up, but the audio breaks completely and it’s just a constant loud scratchy noise. I’m at my wits end and far as I can see online no one else has posted about a similar issue and I’ve no clue how to fix it 😢

One problem I have, I don't know if others are having this issue or not, but when the Dwarf sings, the audio seems really low. I literally would have to turn up the volume to hear it clearly, and that's with all audio settings in the game max. Would be nice if it was loud and clear, so you can listen to it.

Been really enjoying this in co-op, it's a great vibe and feels very LotR, but I still seem to be having issues with CPU spikes. Whenever the little hammer & anvil appears at the top of the screen (auto save?), or when I'm fast travelling, the game seizes up my whole PC. Hopefully just needs some further optimisation so looking forward to seeing how this patch affects it.

First orc town wasn't bad for me, i got black diamond stuck before i found the orc town in the deeps. Our seed has been kinda tough all around though, there was one doorway to the actual mine that opened up to a cavern and it took us a couple hrs to figure out we had to dig through the stone to get to the rest of the mines.

as for lgihts...i noticed that the room gets lighter when i place a hearthfire i just started the game and im loving it 8 hours a day, love the theme, love the dwarves, love everything...sometimes its hard to find friends who would enjoy playing as dwarves as much as i do, so i was wandering, will it be possible in the future to have other playable races? since we have elvish quarters and such

I love this game however the people that came on and played used up the ironwood before I got to the part where I needed it. And I tried to tell them and they did not listen.. now my game is stalled how do I get iron wood when it was hijacked? I have searched everywhere over the bridge so I can get to the place that matters. I think there should be more resources because now how do I play? I don't want to start over...😢

I made mine in the pumping station. I get bats flying into mine because I have no roof. But they are spawning outside my hearth area. It has made it very easy to farm bat 💩 😁

I know this is gonna sound bad, because I really love this game, but is there any way to make ores regenerate? It got really difficult for me and my friends to find any resources after a while in the campaign even in the sandbox it can be difficult, but thank you guys for this amazing game in the morning ever since I originally watched, the hobbit and the lord of the rings who knows when you can make a sequel or a DLC
