Hello!! I am a loyal and long time Pentagon fan (Universe) popping by and passing through! I managed to find this cover of Shine through my video recommendations and as soon as I saw it, I clicked it, even though I don’t know the group at all haha. (I’ve seen their name before though on Twitter, but I stopped listening to most new groups for a while now so they don’t really show up for me at all) Fans of Xikers, I want you to know that Shine means a lot for Pentagon and their fans. Well, at least it means a lot to me. It’s genuinely my favorite song of all time and of course it’s Pentagon’s biggest hit. I’ll try not to go into too much detail (I always do somehow tho lmao) but everything about that era of pentagon is just so iconic for me. It wasn’t _just_ the song (which is already imo the best kpop song ever made) but also every single one of their stages, every outfit each of the individual members wore, the dance covers by other kpop fans, the all around praise from people who weren’t fans of pentagon and even other kpop idols. All of it means a lot to me. I try and take note of whenever an idol group covers Shine and honestly there’s less than I wish it was because I just want to see more people sing it! I can say that this cover is genuinely really fun, unique and good! I think my favorite part of it though actually, we’re the outfits. It’s not much, but the references to what Pentagon wore on their music show stages like backpacks, the fake ties the slightly oversized blazer jackets, the fingerless gloves. If you look back at those stages it felt like a coordinated chaos. But some of those elements are here, it’s more subtle of course, but it honestly almost brought a tear to my eye. I think it would have been perfect if say the tallest member of the group wore shorts haha. I like the arrangement as well! I wish I could understand the rap parts, but definitely the beginning up to the first chorus was so fun! I liked the slight punk rock element to it, which makes the cover stand out from the original song! Overall I just wanted to say this was a really good cover and I’m really happy to see rookies cover my favorite song of all time by my favorite group of all time!

I am both an ATINY and Universe for even longer who hasn't heard much from xikers yet other than their debut and this performance. I am beyond impressed by the talent shown here! They effortlessly pull off this cover of it well, while still making it their own. Yechan(I hope I'm remembering his name right) sounds so much like Dawn, I had to do a double take. Favorite cover Xikers have done by far. Love how they made it their own and Yechan doing the intro part was just too iconic, he has such good stage presence.
