The fight scene between Bond and Trevelyan just before Bond kicks open the ladder hatch is really beautifully done. It's so raw without any musical score and there's something about these two beautifully acting this twisted but amazing 'brother' like relationship that just grips me so much and I believe every fight scene, every confrontation, everything. It's hard to explain but this film stuck with me so much because of this. The N64 game was also fantastic in its own ways!

I swear the confrontations between Bond and Trevelyan are some of the best this series has offered. For the first time watching this movie, I legitimately saw a threat to Bond because it went beyond simply being an evil genius or hulking brute. It was a villain who knew him on a personal level for years and could get inside his head. Silva in Skyfall was also a great example of this and Blofeld in Spectre was unfortunately a poor attempt at it.
@Grymmorgan8 жыл бұрын
One of the very few Bourne-quality moments for the character, especially pre-Craig. Instead of some genetic mutant with a disfiguring deformity, or a megalomaniac running on pure ego and adrenaline, Bond faces one of his own, someone at his level, and it's a fairly breathtaking confrontation. Both characters show tremendous invention and confidence during this battle. We won't see the like again until Bond goes after the elusive Mollaka in Casino Royale.

adamtherock2008: In agreement with you, because the two agents were close friends/comrades and when 006 was revealed as the main antagonist, the latter has an unwavering loyalty to protect and serve. As Trevelyan was a threat to global security, no way Bond was going to let going to let his former MI6 colleague's plans come to pass - the storyline is repeated (more or less) in Skyfall. Proof that someone like Hinx or Jaws weren't that memorable (no disrespect) much of a threat in an intellectual way to 007. With SPECTRE, it could have been so much better - a little too predictable in my view.
@aidancampbell27986 жыл бұрын
Trevelyan is like the anti Bond. The same skill set but used for bad instead of good. They are equally matched. He was a great villain. Casino Royale follows the story in the original Ian Flemming novel. Most would agree that it is one of the best Bond films. I don't know what movie you watched. In my opinion, this was THE best fight scenes during Pierce Brosnan's run as 007 and one of the best in the entire series. The sense of tension built up by the chase, the small beats in between, the great editing along with clear camera work, and the tight setting in the mechanical room of the antenna tower where the fight actually happens all helped to give the right speed of pace and sense of menace. The fight choreography was also great in that it wasn't overly elaborate ( don't get me wrong, elaborate fight choreography can be great but not when it becomes silly). But anyway, a great scene. It totally makes sense that it was director Martin Campbell they trusted to restart the series with Daniel Craig.
@MikeWoodall9 ай бұрын
"For England, James?" "No. For me." No doubt a jab at the fact that Trevelyan was always mocking James for his loyalty to Emgland. Evident in quotes like "Her Majesties loyal terrier." But now 007 basically says "I take things personally too, you know."

@anthonylewis25066 жыл бұрын
MrClassicDoctorWho: In so many ways, all of them have a touch of sadness. Take a look at QoS: 007 witnessed Mathis getting killed, Camille Montes finally taking revenge on Gen Medrano, Dominic Greene taunting Bond and other backstory. The events in Skyfall tell us all we need to know, as for Licence To Kill, it certainly shows 007 has an extremely dark side and if it means somebody getting "fitted up" (Milton Krest in this case, who was innocent all along) then the British agent didn't have much choice. There’s only a couple of shots I can make out that are definitely the stunt doubles, but even then, because of how well Terry Rawlings edits the film, you can barely notice it.

Little fun fact: For the confrontation between Bond and Trevelyan inside the antenna cradle, director Campbell decided to take inspiration from Bond's fight with Red Grant in From Russia with Love. Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean did all the stunts themselves, except for one take where one is thrown against the wall. Brosnan injured his hand while filming the extending ladder sequence, making producers delay his scenes and film the ones in Severnaya earlier.

When did he injure his hand? When he drops with the ladder or when he drops down the ladder a second time?

I love this movie . Alec Trevelyan is one of my favorite Bondvillains and he's the only one who knows Bond better then anyone and that makes it interesting.

back in the day people made movies that were entertaining. but now people are soo picky and their movies have to be super realistic and we get no fun stuff like that.
