its really interesting to consider how and why things have changed. On the one hand we went from a slower paced more centralized society. Everyone watched TV, there were limited amounts of channels (cable and Satellite were around but 90% was the same thing) You had a "dominant" culture based on commercials. If you remember the 90s you probably remember these things like Budweiser Frogs or Taco bell dogs. The movies were intended for everyone, and society was so much less "segmented" However because the TV is a fixed thing that did not travel, when you left your home you were disconnected. We did not even have Cell phones so if you needed to call someone you needed a pay phone and change. One the one hand we had a strong uniting force in the form of "TV" on the other hand when we walked away from it we were disconnected. When kids went outside, they were outside and disconnected from Technology. Other than social changes it might as well have been the 1950s With the late 90s and 2000 the Internet when main stream but it was still developing. KZbin when it came out was basically people in their basement doing silly things. Desktops like the TV were not with you went you went outside. However, its interesting since this created more freedom for "art" (such as early KZbin) and room for more "outlandish" and "politically incorrect" humor. NewGrounds.com and early Robochicken remind me of this era. Smart phones i think had the greatest effect on society since now you were never "disconnected" from tech. Now wherever you went it went with you. The uniting force of TV was gone but so was the "genuine" experience of being unplugged from the Matrix. Now people are in their little corners of the world in an increasingly atomized society.

My cousin got me hip for playing this GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64 for the first time and that's how I started playing this game. I was 7 years old at that time, i was at cousin's house to play this game and i enjoy it. Until this day, i still know how to play it💯

Omg!!! It's one of the first games I played on N64. Im 37 now, and I remember playing this like yesterday, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast. Amazing!

I remember as a kid after playing outside all day we would go to my house and play this game 4 players and pass the controller if you lost. We would nag at each other for screen cheating and odd job was banned. This game brought all my friends in my neighborhood together for good times. Goldeneye holds a special place in my childhood.

Yep. Those were the days with the homies.

We did the same things!!! We had a special rule about Oddjob, anyone who picked Oddjob was free to be ganged up on by all other players. Screen cheating resulted in getting beat by anyone who wasn't playing at that time and lowest kills per round resulted in passing the controller off for a new player to start playing

man this got to be my favorite game of all time and i been a gamer since the old school nintendo. i spent countless hours on this joint with my man Jake from the next neighborhood over. as kids we literally took this SOB everywhere, we played at his house, my house, neighbors house, driving on the road in the car with the tube tv set in between the front seats and us in the back, we played inside, outside, on vacation in the beach condo, freaking literally every which way we could possibly think up, and did it over and over and over, and we literally never got tired of it. these developers did so much with relatively so little, and this game still slap, aint nobody ever came close to what this game did, it literally invented a whole new genre of games. not to many titles can brag about doing that. case closed.

Great video. I must mention that the remastered version for X360 with a CE patch is brilliant. Not many bugs left to fix, and one of them is still menu music, still missing. Also, need to fix mission-ending music. The latest community edition updater is v5, I think? In addition, the old graphical visuals are no longer blurry with CE v5. It's crystal clear, plus improved lighting where you can see far even in dark areas as it should be.

Pizza rolls, Sunkist in the can (ice cold) and countless hours spend at my buddy Kenny's house playing Golden Eye. 4th or 5th grade, mid 90s. What an awesome time to be a kid! Then wed watch beavis and butthead! Get up in the a.m. and atraight to playing G.E. we also played StarWars shadows of the empire a fuckin ton! I still have no idea who the protagonist of that game was 😂 who the hell was that guy?! 😂😂😂

Everything about this game was amazing. Like shooters nowadays can't even begin to stack up to this. I remember having everything unlocked and I'd still play through the levels and loved every minute of it.

I can't wait til this is added to the N64 roster on the Nintendo switch. My younger brother and I used to rent this(among other n64 games) on weekends and we played the heck out of it. Sometimes our dad would get in on it and play with us. Good times.

Ah yes I well remember finally managing to keep Natalya alive and moving onto the next objective after being told she was heading back to the surface and then being informed a few moments later that she had been killed. Controller almost went through screen.

I love the little moments of brutality you threw into the gameplay. Killing Dr. Doaks, blowing up 006, shooting Natalya in the leg to wake her up… “quite a jolly little soirée”!

By March '98 it had become my favourite game on the system because I discovered I could squash people and cars with the tank in the Streets level.

I love that game so much, I always wonder how many played its spiritual succesor, Perfect Dark which was another Marvel. '007 The world is not enough' was also pretty good, but feel really different than both of those games
@adamfletcher-dn4jm Жыл бұрын
Yep i played perfect dark a lot and timesplitters 2 and on pc tribes 2 vengeance all were kickass games

I think one thing that stood out about this game was the baked in inaccuracy of gun shots, you could aim but pretty much anything that wasn't a sniper rifle wasn't an exact bullseye like modern shooter games. Added a semi random element to shootouts which made it a fun and chaotic 4 player experience.
