Ourumov than to the relatively uncorrupt Mishkin and through Ourumov got corrupted by the Janus crime organization through bribery and arms dealing grift (we've been seeing that play out in RL with the Russo-Ukraine War and the activities of the Wagner Group).

I loved this scene. The actors were excellent. Based on his performance, you got a sense that Ourumov was both a dangerous and competent man as well as a flawed and desperate man (similar to Le Chiffre in Casino Royale.) The way the actor does it comes off super convincing and well done- very human and realistic. When the Defense Minister mentions Natalya, you can see really nuanced acting. His look has panic, fear, defiance and danger. Defense Minister Mishkin was excellent as well. His coolness and severity coupled nicely with Ourumov's performance.

Russian actors arnt going to want to partake in a Western film especially if it portrays their nation as antagonistic, look at all the Bond films from the Cold War Era the Russian characters many of whom portrayed by western Europeans. Steve Berkhoff a Brit portrayed Soviet general Orlov, Walter Gotell a German portrayed Alexis Gogol, Jerone Krabbe a Dutchman portrayed Giorgi Koskov, John Rhys-Davies a Scotsman portrayed Leonid Pushkin none of whom are of Russian or Slavic heritage and likely spoke almost No Russian at all. Russians actors also during the Cold War were inaccessible to western film makers, also their government wouldn't allow them to participate again if it portrays them as antagonistic. Also in the movie Red Heat Arnold Schwarzenegger, an Austrian born portrayed a Russian police officer he also spoke not a word of Russian prior to filming and still spoke in his Austrian accent.

+Andrew Chapman Non English speaking characters speaking in English with other non speaking English characters is the biggest problem I have with this film and other Bond films as well such as From Russia with Love, for example. Ricardo Cantoral Trevelyn was a good main villain and it was a good surprise and twist having Alec go from 00 and close friend of James Bond to head of a Russian Criminal Organization. Originally Alec was supposed to be a older character in original script as before Sean Bean took the role, Anthony Hopkins, Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons were all considered and offered the role and each actor turned down the role. Irons turned it down as he was busy filming Die Hard 3 and played the main villain Simon, Alan Rickman turned it down as he was growing tired of playing villains and was busy doing stage appearances. Timothy Dalton was slated to star in Goldeneye but he resigned in 1994 so minor changes were made to script including making Alec a younger character but left the darker tone to avoid any more production delays as was written to fit Daltons darker tone in his movies.
@Gareth-4103 жыл бұрын
@@scottknode898 One of my only complaints about GoldenEye is that the characters are too young for their backstories. Alec was meant to have been a young boy during the war which would put his character at just over 50 in 1995 but Sean Bean was only in his mid thirties during filming.
