there are people we've met who have been totally vulnerable with us. naked. we made memories with them. we think of them fondly. no matter how isolated we are, those versions of them, naked, happy, and free, are always with us. running through the halls of our mind, teasing us, comforting us. Even if the actual person has aged and become someone different, that one version of them is something we always carry.
@maboleth3 жыл бұрын
And yet that can make me desperately sad. Some people are forever gone, some changed, some disappeared. The memory remains, but it's not enough. Sometimes I feel 'the best is yet to come' is a past tense.

@denys27873 жыл бұрын
I think this video is about not letting age define her... She's aware that even though she's getting older, she won't let that stop her from being young at heart and doing whatever she pleases, even if it's not considered "appropriate" for her age. Living forever in nostalgia. Alison is indeed timeless.

When this album came out I was working as a security guard doing the night shift, a big traffic queue to the last 1 mile into work. I used to love that queue, looking at other drivers next to me and wondering what they were listening to and wondering why I was so content for the queue to go on forever with this album on. There was a night nurse whose surname was DREW, it was my favourite track... she knew of Goldfrapp.best track now , in my mind is CLAY.

Pull up the blinds Open the door wide Feel the cold arrive In my bones Put on my face The way I dressed today Feel like you tonight On my day Falling little more You bumped and crashed in dirty snow Up to our sin, I might as well Melt into Sunday Remember the time We stood there by the lake Watching boats and planes Pretty white clouds The sun will sweat In fact the song begins Trees are your skin On my tongue Falling little more You bumped and crashed in dirty snow Up to our sin, I might as well Melt into Sunday Pull up the blinds Open the door wide Feel the cold arrive In my bones You, me and more We bumped and crashed in dirty snow Up to our sin, we might as well Melt into Sunday La la la la la La la la la la la la la la We know you're, you're not how it seems Don't have a point You're not there for the stay When I will wish you could Wish that you were there You could You're dying in here You could be here soon You stumble on a river

I heard Goldfrapp for the first time in a coffee shop in Amsterdam back in 2006. Ever since they've been one of my favorite groups. It's a shame they don't get as much attention as many of their talentless peers. Writing a song this beautiful does not just happen everyday.

Allison mentioned that all songs except for Clay and Alvar are based on charactersfrom books she read, and watching the video it just came to me if this would be based on Michael Cunningham's The Hours, the characters of Clarissa, Richard and Louis and that happy time of their lives when they were young on that house.
