Playing golf in extremely high winds can be dangerous because of the possibility of branches breaking off and hitting someone. Players or fans. But anyway, high wind can make even an easy course difficult!

At what wind speed do they suspend play? I mean the third one was just brutal....

I believe it is 35mph. That’s what it was gusting at when they suspended play at The Genesis. I’ve played in 30, and it was hard to keep a ball at rest in the putting surface. My hat blew off many times. But, I was playing at Oakmont so there was no way I was quitting before finding the cup on 18

Idk if there’s an actual cutoff line for speed. More just enough players complain and ask for suspended play. I could be wrong though

Generally it's if the ball won't come to rest on the Green. You can see this happen on some clips. Play was probably suspended shortly after. In practice this is usually when it's something like 30+ MPH sustained and gusting 45+ MPH.
