To conclude our two part lesson with Spencer, Henry and I further build on our first day's lesson by continuing to encourage a more dynamic athletic move. In this golf lesson, we focus more on the golf wrist hinge and how creating right wrist extension (to be released into wrist flexion) can be utilized for more power and a more stable club face angle throughout. For Spencer, the tendency was to get his right hand grip on the club too strong, causing him to tilt more coming into impact and resulting in low point control issues with his irons and wedges. Correcting his right hand grip, as was also seen in the first golf lesson was a key part in helping Spencer improve his ball striking. With this method, you will see far less roll of the club face, therefore producing a much more square golf swing release. With this wrist action established, Spencer could then turn on the jets and begin letting his more athletic swing loose! We hope you enjoy this episode.

The squat really made a difference in Spencer's swing. The key element that I too was missing. Thanks for the excellent how to.

Pretty sure that Milo is the best full swing coach on KZbin. Period. I feel like even my local coaches could take away so much from this mega athletic sequence.

Changing from a roll-release to a square-release is huge. Key is often working the right hand hinge..

This has been very helpful for me. I still do not have the move down with the left hip. I will keep working on that part. Thanks for sharing

Great teachings with respect to wrist setting … it’s weird for me thru impact as I use to be a super flipper and throwing the club in desperation mode … great lesson thanx for sharing…

These 2 videos helped a ton of people. Is it safe to say that we have to setup with ulnar deviation to match up with these wrist conditions, and if so how much?
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
The wrists are naturally in some amount of ulnar deviation at setup. In this video we are primarily talking about right wrist extension and releasing into flexion so the club face stays relatively stable throughout.

This golfer is good at taking an easier, testing kind of swing. For me, it’s hard not to swing all out every time.

@@MiloLinesGolf Yes that’s what I was talking about on the improvement with his rotation. It’s so much better and now he doesn’t stall & flip. Started with Grip so basic but like you say If that’s not right it’s hard to move forward Great stuff Coach

i think your student does that because of the backswing looks like he needs more of squeeze of the pelvis into his trail leg

This does not look like a repeatable golf swing. I've been playing for 25 years and this looks overly complicated and totally unnatural
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
Elaborate, what about these building blocks creates an unnatural unrepeatable golf swing?
@4g63mark
@4g63mark Жыл бұрын
@@MiloLinesGolf Actually the burden of proof is on you to elaborate how this is repeatable and natural. I don't ever see this swing done by the avid golfers at any of the courses I play, and if this swing were easy and repeatable it would be pretty common by now. In my opinion the over exaggerated forward press is what makes this awkward move necessary. Of course Sean Foley has some tour players using it, but the same tour players that are trying it now already played at elite levels with their previous swing......
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
@@4g63mark first off most avid golfers stink at golf so I wouldn’t copy them. You should follow my instagram where you’ll see hundreds of my students and other players making great swings using our preferred patterns.

It’s the modern day impact position, as seen a lot now on tour. It’s a pattern Milo is teaching, an effective one. Or you could learn a pattern that had your chest facing the ball at impact and time it and flip. Lots of options out there.
@yodaman4674
@yodaman4674 11 ай бұрын
I think you have to recognize that this is just a step towards the full swing and setting up the building blocks so it can look and feel unnatural at first. There’s some exaggeration happening by avoiding any turning of the clubface and forcing the body to rotate through. His student had a habit of excessive flipping and turning of the wrist through impact causing the ball to go left and standing up too quickly causing some early extension. By not flipping the wrist and keeping the hinge through impact it forces you to get lower because of the narrower arc and rotating through. By doing the extreme you eventually relax things by allowing passive release of the clubface instead of holding it off so much. It’s easier to work from a held off release and relaxing it than trying to tame a wild flippy release.
