good review, very helpful. I had a G30 that stopped recharging(or so I thought) and I bought the last g80 in a metro area of 600,000 people. I was only planning to use it on the course but after a number of reviews and testing side by side with a ultra high price device I see that I could use it on the range to test different balls.

I noticed that you had the Garman sitting a little lower than your hitting platform and I’m wondering if that made a difference?

You can adjust the amount of roll the Garmin estimates, perhaps you had it set up to give a lot of roll. The carry distances seemed to be pretty accurate. I have one and have found it has made a massive difference to my scoring on the course - knowing my average distances and then using the GPS function to help select the right club has been a game changer for me. Better than wasting £400 on the latest driver that is no better than a 2 or 3 year old model!

Great review, thank you. I wonder what price you think it would make sense at? Would you recommend it to use in a back garden with my regular golf ball into a hitting net as a comparison to using the range balls? Very tempted to get one but would be interested in any thoughts please.

I just got mine, and i really love it. I think for the avarage amateur player this suits very well. Don't expect it to be a precice measering tool, but it is a lot off fun to practice with on the range. It performs very well as a GPS divice on the course. i got mine for 395 euro witch is a good deal. And for that money you get a lot value for money in my opinion. :) happy new year!

I enjoyed your review there, Paul. Good to see the device put through a thorough test. Particularly interesting to see it perform better against the GC Quad vice the GC2. What does that tell us about the GC2 I wonder?

The Garmin is a neat piece of kit and I think you could see on the film I really wanted it to perform. I think the GPS on it is great, it’s just a bit too much of a premium for the rest of the functionality The Quad has 4 cameras (hence the name) that take something like 10,000 pics per second which it then uses to compute where the ball has gone. I presume the GC2 has 2 cameras doing the same, so won’t be as accurate

You have to be within a foot & level with the ball You can set the roll to zero or max Carry would then be the more reliable figure

Hi Paul. I’m starting to us swing speed sticks for training. Will this pick up the speed stick speeds ie without the ball contact? Cheers.

Hi Andrew. No it won’t unfortunately. I’ve almost finished filming an episode over a 7 week period using Swing Speed, doing the exercises 3 times a week. I tried it without a ball and also with a sponge soft style practice ball and it doesn’t pick up. Thanks for subscribing by the way 👍

Hi Iain. I believe the CT10 only syncs with the newer Garmin watches.
