If Mickelson putted more like he chips instead of changing his grip every few weeks... Eric, try this and tell me what you think. Breaks all the "rules", I know. Normal setup. Flex left knee. Left shoulder drops, shoulders tilt and putter moves back naturally. Extend left knee. Left shoulder rises, shoulders tilt the other way and Putter swings forward through the ball. A true putting swing. We use our feet and legs in a golf swing and MUST keep them still while putting. Never made sense to me. Crazy but works.

Hey Frank! Thanks! Will give it a shot next time I'm on a putting green!

@@CogornoGolf I would love your feedback. I got nothing to sell here, just a guy who loves golf (and keeps hoping it will someday love me back). If done right, the shoulders hands and arms "stay still" relative to each other. The "V" is maintained . They just move on top of the bending and straightening left leg and therefore tilting pelvis. No pronation, supination, too much right arm, too much left arm, too much inside etc. One key is to swing up and through the ball though. Swing it. Don't manipulate it. It's OK if you don't like it (your welcome) but would love to hear you actually tried a few putts with it.

So thats why a lot of pros use the Anser model putter. Cause it closes later.
@apaulmcdonough21703 жыл бұрын
The Plumber's Neck of the Anser and the Newport / Newport 2 also has more Forward Shaft Lean designed and built in, for Players who set up with Forward Shaft Lean at address and those Players who trigger their backstroke with a pronounced Forward Press. Spieth is somewhat of a hybrid. He will begin to Address the ball with a near Vertical Shaft, then at the very end of his Address he creates his FSL - has a momentary pause - and then initiates a "one piece" take away. There are a few Good videos of Spieth's Setup and Stroke. Focus on his hands and the Shaft of his putter. Toe Flow putters - Face to Path - *CLOSE on the Backswing* and *OPEN on the Forward Swing.*

Hey Paul! I would say he is not advocating anything. I think he's really good at looking at a individual person and giving them what THEY need. @CogornoGolf4 жыл бұрын
He talks a lot about letting the putter "release"....feeling the toe getting ahead of the heel on way through like opening and closing a door.... I'm assuming he's talking about that
@apaulmcdonough21703 жыл бұрын
A draw comes from an inside Path with a closing Face. All Putting Strokes are Arc Strokes, the differences are in the degree and amount of Arc in the Path. Tiger is feeling a moderate Arc to the Inside, with a Release of the Face.

The problem I see with a lot of golfers putting is that they take the putterhead to far back resulting in the face being open! If you want good tips is how to putt - check out Phil Mickelson in how to keep the face square always! Short backswing and follow through to your intended line! Left hand below right helps to marry the hands when starting your back swing with the left - simple!
@CogornoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, Alan! I think too long of a back stroke can cause problems....but boy oh boy too short of a back stroke can cause AT LEASTY as many issues. Best to get it reasonably close to same length back and through to start with so tempo can stay neutral. Too short back is NOT better than too long.....nor vise versa.

I like this series with David Orr. My only critique would be a reasonably priced way to get feedback on putter path and face angle. He has access to Sam Puttlab and a Capto System, both costing several thousand bucks). One way I've found to check my face and see whether its square to the arc is with Visio's Mi Template (visioputting.com/mi-putting-template-face-lines/). You can get these for less than $50.

really good vid as THIS is my issue (missing left). as you get older and your girth expands....it (girth) serves as an anchor for the trail elbow to rest upon. it is then just a simple rotation of the shoulders (assuming they are square to path) to move the head the same direction. but i liked what he said about the hands doing the twist thing. under pressure, that is the true enemy

There is exactly zero truth to this guy's theories. To prove it to yourself build a wooden putter with a square shaft and ride that square shaft on a stairstep above to see what happens on the tilted plane. As an alternative, buy the clip-on device sold by the people who make "the Putting Arc" to discover the same thing. What happens to the putter blade on a tilted plane is EXTREMELY difficult for the average person to understand. That's why there are millions of golfers in the world and only a handful of people who can make a living with the game of golf. They have taken the time and effort to understand all of this. Once you understand what is happening, and is required, you can move on to the principles and practices of both Crenshaw and Tiger which are exactly the same. It is then all about the "release" which simply means to swing the club off of a very light grip. They then put the putter head into it's own inertia (by RELEASING it), where it has exactly zero propensity to twist. You have to give up control of the putter in order to gain control of the putter (as per Paul Azinger). You are in effect taking yourself out of the putt and thus making many to most other things relatively unimportant. This is the exact opposite to what Dave Pelz professed and why he is no longer relevant. A human being lacks the ability to control the face angle to the precision needed. So you take yourself out of it by releasing it. Tiger practices this by only using his right hand. He removes the ability to control.
