You are like the best science instructor we had in school. You never drift off your main point, always aware of us, explanations clear, spot-on, simple and valid. Can't thank you enough. Yesterday, I was hitting balls in a golf shop focusing on lead arm supination per your video. I use regular graphite in my irons but yesterday, supination allowed me to hit extra stiff steel 8 iron the same distance---I ripped through the ball instead of glancing contact. Thank you again for your generosity and gift to us all.

I was obsessed with club head speed and developing an inside out swing path. But flipping was driving me nuts. A couple of months ago Eric , you did two videos on rotation and hands/forward shaft lean. With heaps more rotation, body more open at impact and hands leading the club, I’m now hitting straight, compressing the ball more. If I lose concentration, sure, I will inevitably revert. It’s a continuous work in progress, but paying big dividends! You cannot believe how relieved and happier I am now. Thank you so much Eric!

I think you can fix all this by just getting your downswing right, and that is starting your lower body before your club big issue their, like casting and just not getting the legs and hips and rotation first.

I just got back in after my daughter was born 8 years ago. Couldn't agree more with the advice. I saw Spieth would use more hands and minicked this back in the day being a picker and it was the first time I could compress it. Spieth is way out in front bowed wrist great advice.

I think you are correct in your analogy. However I see very few golfers "Flip". Most of the problems I see is lack of release. They pull the handle through or spin the body causing an over the top move. You must release or throw the angle created in the backswing.

I think I see, I was working on your coat hanger drill with body rotation (Chris Ryan’s you tubes helped clarify as well) and low and behold, my flip went away automatically as well my tendency to hit the ground before the ball. Awesome....I’m rotating my lead arm a lot now allowing me to hit to the left easily. Almost feels like I’m putting a spin on the ball, to curve it to the left. So far just short shots of 40 yards or so. Also, The ball seems like its bouncing off the club face with that cracking sound, going much further than I would expect Thanks to both of you.

So helpful. Getting back into golf, and am using the rotation model with the stick. I do have to feel as though I am open through impact and the follow through is more like Trevino. If I use my hands through impact I seem to quit on the body rotation and hit it fat. So I guess I'll just hold it and rotate. I really have to fire the right side through !

Hey Eric - your vids have made me a better teacher and i've been teaching for 20yrs. Love your content and you no bullshit delivery. I'd love to see the fix for getting guy who throws the club from the top. I can get him into better impact alignments doing 9-3 swings working on pivot and shaft lean to a point. i understand concepts of pivot related to impact but the throw away has to be one of the hardest things to fix, at least IMO. I've been working with this guy to long to not have him fixed.

Wow I wish that the dozens of other videos I watched addressed then 2 caveats you mentioned. Because I’ve been trying these drills with zero luck because I have an open club face and swing over the top. My issue is that I’ve ALSO been trying to fix my over the top swing for years with no luck. Your videos are some of the best but my brain just can’t register it after swinging like that for 20+ years. I feel entirely hopefully at this point and will try actual lessons this year. I can play decent golf but the flip is killing my distance, sending the ball wayyyyy too high with my irons, and causing me to hit a ton off fat shots or mis hits off the toe. Thanks for the great video as always and more importantly getting me back on track to fix my root causes before diving down the stopping the flip rabbit hole any further. Do you do any swing analysis or online coaching? Thanks in advance!

@@CogornoGolf this is really good and mirrors a few of the things I've worked on previously to do with flattening the left wrist in the backswing. However I've never been taught this left wrist feel in the downswing properly before. For me it's the feeling of "holding off" the release. Which I guess I just feeling the hanger on the left wrist. Assume that's what it might feel like without the hanger - flattening the left wrist on the backswing and holding off the release on the downswing, as I'm a big flipper! Really appreciate this.

Flip! Watched a slow-mo video of myself and help the ball in the air. I’ve applied the alignment rod drill and immediately compress the ball, see a lower and straighter ball flight. What advice do you have for integrating the drill into a full swing. I tend to revert back to flipping if I extend my follow through.
@CogornoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hey Vincent! 1. Go slow enough speed (20%) and short enough (hip high) Do that until you can repeat easily (could be 1 day or 4 months) then add swing length but keep speed slow until you can do 3/4 swing at 20% then full at 20% then back down to hip high but add speed....etc etc Keep using video feedback and I would work with a good coach!
@vincenthofmann24004 жыл бұрын
@@CogornoGolf This is great advice, my instinct was to progress too quickly without really establishing the move properly. I’ll give that progression a go. If I get 25% improvement in consistency I don’t mind if it takes me a year to get right, anything is better than not knowing where the ball is going to shoot off of the club-face.

Mine actually flips right after impact. Even though I lag it, it still feels it stiffens up or straighten out right exactly at impact. I have that feeling that my wrist feel stiff. This happened when I started learning to have a short thumb since I used to have a long thumb. Still finding a way yor fix it. But this though led to a consistent target. Which I think is weird because I hate the feeling of flipping. But when I loosen up my thumb, I can swing it further back and mu downswing stop flipping at impact. And my rotation feels lighter. But in terms of consistency of shots the former is more effective and more on target. So now I’m confused. Can’t figure our what I’m doing weong. How do I merge the two?

So if no club face issue and no swing direction issue then I believe the culprit causing the flip for most handicappers is mental image of thinking we must help the ball into the air. Everything with your swing could be perfect but if your mindset is such that you believe you must help get the ball into the air then you’re doomed to a lifetime of flipping. Not many instructors discuss that at all. Have anything on that Eric?
