Charisma is such a difficult thing to quantify. You can’t force it and you can’t buy it but Caitlin Clark has it. I think one of the most common traits of someone who has charisma is that they’re although they are arguably the best at what they do they don’t act like they think they are. Caitlin Clark has that characteristic. It’s not an easy trait to cultivate when you’re such a talented athlete.

Golf as a sport is back to suffering from being a 'rich man's game'. For example, in my town a round of golf, carrying your bag... costs more than 4x the minimum wage. For those people working a Blue Collar service job, half day's work to play a round of golf at supposedly its cheapest is too much. Golf certainly would benefit from the attitude that Caitlin brings to it of just wanting to have fun. You don't see too many PGA and LPGA members who look like they're having fun in the middle of a round. They look more like they're getting a root canal without benefit of anesthetic.
@timothywyatt40628 күн бұрын
That’s plain silly talk. Public courses are very affordable. It’s easy to have fun when there’s nothing on the line. The pros are playing for million dollar purses.
@Joe_J-MT_Boy27 күн бұрын
@@timothywyatt406 - Public courses are very affordable IF you have an income equal to or more than yours. Consider a person who's just starting out trying to learn how to play golf. You're putting your income profile on all those people, and they don't currently think that golf, even on a municipal course, is anywhere near "affordable".
@timothywyatt40626 күн бұрын
@@Joe_J-MT_Boy Your original comment stated that it’s a rich man’s sport. The game was designed by rich men for rich men. However eventually those without the silver spoon started playing and a man named Francis Ouimet would become the first amateur to win the US Open. Today a person could buy some used equipment, watch KZbin videos and go to the range and practice while they learn what is needed before going to play on a course. In my area we have four courses that can be played for $25 to $35 (walking) and a park three course for about $12. If all of this is too expensive then it’s probably not a game for you. If you are the kind of person that eats $15 sandwiches for lunch rather than spending $15 on a loaf of bread, lunch meat and cheese and eat for a week then you won’t be able to figure out how to make golf affordable.
@Joe_J-MT_Boy26 күн бұрын
@@timothywyatt406 - Are you aware that "golf" was invented by shepherds in the Scottish highlands? From there, whatever perversion occurred was driven by the rich. I live in Helena, MT where the 18 hole rate at our muni course is $45 if you're walking... ALL YEAR LONG. No "Off Season Rates". Please tell me how that's "affordable" to some guy making Minimum Wage? When your city course isn't affordable to the least rich of your citizens, it's not really a Municipal Golf Course. It's more like an apprentice Country Club.

The only thing women need to take away from Caitlin Clark is this: Caitlin Clark is what happens when an athlete puts in the time and work to become the best at something. The WNBA was making zero money until she came along because people are attracted to high level talent.
