This interviewer is going to be highly underrated. He's so chill he might easily get overlooked but the man knows his golf, he understands what us golfers think about and what we want to know. To top it off he's relaxed, calm, and disarming for a pro. And Hovland has what I think is the greatest swing of all time. No one can strike the ball with his accuracy and consistency. No one. Not even Scheffler. Tiger can hit harder shots, but even at his prime he could not stick it as close to as many pins as Viktor can. Barring any hiccups or unforeseen consequences, I think we are about to witness the Hovland Era coming up.

Viktor is describing what a good golfer actually goes through to maintain a good swing and keep trying to improve without over-adjusting. I doubt most weekend golfers realize this. Many pros will discuss the standard teaching points rather than describe what they are going through with their own swings. Viktor is more open and honest than many. Also, they both discusss that even a touring pro is not only warming up on the range before his round, but also making minor adjustments if necessary each day.

Hey awesome! Me and Vik are having the same driver struggles! Ha played a cut for years and decided I needed to learn a draw to have in my bag. Welp there went the one way miss. I miss the days where I knew it wasn't going to go left.

I think most decent golfers go through that fade to draw process that leads to the 2 way miss. I try to cut everything nowadays but can still hit a draw on command :)

Dumb question, but do the pros use standard range balls? I'm just curious if the standard range balls fly the same as competition balls, such as distance and ball flight, etc.

Pros would typically warm up with the ball that they game. Normal range balls spin quite a bit different and don't go as far. When you're trying to dial in ranges during certain conditions/elevations, it's important to hit the ball you're going to game. Little different for non-pros who can't afford to hit $12 sleeves at the range, lol. Most higher-end private clubs will actually have really nice balls at the range rather than the junk range balls.

In tournaments they get prov1s or whatever ball they use, on a normal course its whatever the course has. They are at OSU's course so probably some higher quality range balls. Range balls are cheaper and firmer, constructed with 1 primary layer. Nicer balls have multiple layers which go a bit further and spin differently.

EZ answer. If you are not a college athlete or Pro golfer, do not attempt to copy Victor's swing. I don't even recommend it for him. His back will break right after his left hand deteriorates (already in process). The swing should flow through freely. his is a violent lash to generate backspin.

@@tubetime39 well. look really closely at his hands. If they look like arnold, maybe he'll last till he's 35. If not, could be a fast decline. If your normal swing includes a hold off or inside out motion, you are grinding your wrists down every time you hit a shot. Then again, all these athletes take rehab steriods now, so who knows.

Pulls and slices... Bit more lateral movement with the hips seems very logical to solve it, probably been spinning out rather than getting though it with the lower half...🤌
