Alan Kubiak Just checked, the screen pops up when you scroll down a little - you have to sign up to their email and they offer you a 10% discount code for your first purchase. I had the s60 and used this tip. When youvare setting up your garmin app amd inputting your clubs, put in an extra club that you dont have, use this club for chip shots out of trouble and stuff. This will stop skewing any stats with the clubs you do use.

Wow! I love the watch. I'm even more impressed by your sleep score and Body Battery. The highest BB I've had in the past month was 90 and the best sleep score I've had was an 85. You are way better than me with those two things! :)

Got mine the other day and will be playing tomorrow, upgraded from the S62 and that was very good! Only moan with Garmin is the app and stats it provides. I use Arccos for that. Hopefully Garmin will do a complete update on the app at some point.

Hi great review really enjoyed it. Don’t know if you can give me any advice on mine I can’t seem to select the tee box type it only gives me Mens or woman’s !! Men’s being whites !? I need yellows. I’ve tried all the upgrades. It does not show the tee choices like your example, can you offer any advice

Can you change the club selection on the S70. For instance I’d like to add a 7 wood, because I have one and delete the 3 wood because I don’t have one. Never mind. I figured it out. You have to edit “my bag” in the Garmin app. Sorry to bug you. But great video. I watched it 4 times and pick up new functionality as I use the watch more and more. 👍👍

Thanks for watching 🙏 don’t forget to check out the discount if you’re in the US (hopefully have a UK discount coming very soon! if you’re in the Apple eco system, the Apple Watch is still the better user experience as it has so many quality of life features you don’t get on any garmin (for example being able to reply to text, music controls automatically popping up when you’re playing music on your phone, Apple Pay etc) But the Garmin is better for activity tracking, golf and the battery life is around 5x longer lasting between charges. So it depends what you get benefit more from 👍👍 Personally I don’t use my Apple Watch any more other than when I go swimming or on my peloton m, prefer wearing my mechanical watches

Will be sharing my opinions on the watch shortly in a new video (currently wearing it nonstop to test the real world battery life…we’re into day 8…don’t think it will make day 9) In terms of the strap, you can purchase replacement ones, but you’ll need a simply strap removal tool or take it to a jeweller to remove the strap it comes with 👍

@@GolfGuyReviews 8 days is really good Kevin. How many games in that, or is it just as a time piece? Yeah I have one of those tools to change out straps on my normal watches. The reason I asked that was a few of the guys at West End have the old one piece design watch/strap. The strap has failed and that WAS the end of the useful wearing, until...one of the guys cut the strap off, made some lugs and drilled them out for spring bars. Fitted a leather strap and he was good to go, he has done a few of the other guys too now, what do they say about us Yorkshire Tykes 🤣🤣🤣

Love that, although it shouldn’t have to come to that. Looking at the watch now it looks like the spring bars come out, and they are selling various replacement straps on their website (although pretty pricey, £40ish for a silicone strap, £200 for a leather 👀) During the 8 days I’ve worn it all day and night, tracked my sleep, played 18 holes and tracked x2 30 minutes of indoor cycling So a pretty average use case I’d say, will probably get a day less if you throw in some gps tracks runs that some will do

An alligator strap for one of my Breitling is just short of £500 😳 although a plain leather is around £150...a rubber/silicone is more expensive though at £70. Of course we don't have to use manufacturers straps and that S70 would look awesome with a handmade grey shark skin strap on it 💕 Back to the S70 itself though...I'll look forward to that review and maybe watch (forgive the pun) it when Debi is there 😉

My Apple Watch battery was barely lasting half a day, I was decided on the Apple Watch ultra but reviews of the golf apps on their was meh. I got to thinking what features I really need out of a watch and this provides that so I ordered it. Have had it 3 days now and battery is 78% so that’s awesome. Haven’t played golf but it’s not as fluid as an Apple Watch which is to be expected. I did use swing tempo at the range and I suck at that lol. Not overly sold on it yet but need to play a round first to see

Thanks for watching. Sound very valid reasoning 👍 I’m currently testing the battery life from a full charge with 18 holes, some exercise, sleep tracking and normal everyday use. Certainly some quality of life features missing compared to the apples watch, but that’s the sacrifice for the battery life and superior activity/golf tracking

I just bout and am comparing with my Apple Watch. The golf blows app blows it away as with my Apple Watch I need to have my phone on me - don’t like carrying it on my person when I play. This review is great to get familiar with the possibilities. Just played my first round and LOVE the automatic shot capture function. I didn’t know how to name the club I used when on the course and went back and edited the data in Garmin Golf. Fortunately I do many other activities and this watch will support. just not sure I am ready to give up my Apple Watch yet.

good video I've watched it many times, a few things I still can't figure out: 1. When I enter my score on the score card I only get the option for my strokes I don't get the putting and directional options.. 2. I get red exclamation points to the left of the notification and calendar widgets for some reason, the watch hasn't lost connection to the phone at all. When the go to the connect app on the phone and a sync happens the exclamation points go away but eventually return. Surely this is just a setting of some kind? 3. Played a round and didn't;t get prompted to enter the club I used so I had to go back and enter them in the app as best that I could, I think I resolved that by turning on the club prompt in the settings correct? This is only my second day with the watch.

Good info....now, exactly how do you get to Stat Tracking...I cannot find it in the Golf Menu...is that a menu for when you are actually playing a round? The watch is excellent, but the menu system is all over the place...menus when you swipe up, different menu when you swipe down and another when you hit the middle button... What’s most important to you: battery life - any Garmin screen quality - Apple Watch, Garmin s70, epix gen 2, compatibility with your phone - Apple Watch (if you’re running android this doesn’t really matter) golf features - maybe Garmin s62,s70, epix g2, but Apple Watches do everything you need price - Apple Watch, s62 Hope that helps

Other than the hole counter around the outside, then no. In fact it looks like Garmin just released a Beta update to the epix and Fenix 7 adding all the new golf Features they can to the S70

I think I can sense the difference to when a ball is actually struck. I’ve not had any problems with practice swings. That said, if you duff one and then have another go from The same spot, you might have to add in the second attempt manually afterwards

Shot distance works just fine walking or with cart. At least, it does on the s62.

Works with the cart...and another use for the shot distance tracking is if you are looking for your ball off the tee, if you know how far you usually drive the ball, check the watch for your distance...if you only drive around 235, and you notice that you are looking in the grass 250-260 away from the tee, then you are probably looking in the wrong area...it has def helped me when using this function. Any idea why my S70 isn’t showing the hole map on the right hand side of the screen? It just shows the front middle and back in full screen. Then in the options I have View Hole, which I noticed you don’t have. Any ideas?

In the golf menu, do you have big numbers mode on? If not, then perhaps the only think I can think of is either: 1. the watch needs a firmware update 2. the watch needs to be reset 3. Perhaps Garmin don't have a map layout for your course (although I would have thought this is unlikely)

I’m pretty sure you can’t select these features in always on mode as these settings are to turn on the screen if you get a notification or when your turn your wrist…but if you’ve got always on mode turned on, the screen is always on

16:31 For the approach S70 I tried removing golf activities from the favorites by removing the golf acitivities from garmin connect apps, and I can't find a way to mark it as favorites again after adding it back. The only way is to reset the watch and restore all setting to factory defaults. Anyone know how remove and add back and put it back into favorite ?

Wore mine for the first time yesterday had to take it off after 4 holes, it was giving me distances to a stupid little box what kept popping up on every hole instead of distances to the green, any idea how I remove that please?

Hmmm, that’s not right. I’d suggest turning the watch off and on again. If that’s doesn’t fix it, then do a factory reset. The watch shouldn’t be showing you yardages to the box, this is just to show you on the map where your shot could go to give you an idea of what hazards yours bringing in to play. If they don’t work, I’d send it back

Just got my watch and used it for golf for the first time yesterday.. amazing piece of kit! Just one question, may be a stupid one! Is WhatsApp classed as an app or text? Would be perfect if it was classed as a text so i can turn all the other apps off (iPhone user!)

Sadly classed as an app, so if you have an iPhone, it’s linked in with all the other app notifications. If you use android you can tailor which apps you receive notifications for 👍

Hmm, tricky one. On one hand, you could really benefit from the increased battery life from the S70 as well as the many additional features. But on the other hand , you might be fine with how the s42 works for you and aren’t looking for anything more. Really depends on whether you can justify spending £600+ on the new watch (don’t forget I’ve included discounts for 🇬🇧 and some 🇺🇸) You might want to hand on a few days and check out my full review of how I’ve got on with this watch, which I’m currently editing. Should be out soon 👍

I’ve had a look this morning and done some googling…I don’t think it does. I can see th lr map manager in the settings, but that’s just to update the golf course maps. I can’t find the map manager in the activities menu like it shows for the epix 2

But the "Fairway Hit" screen never shows up when I am recording my score and putts after the hole, so "Stat Tracking" is not the answer. I will call Garmin tomorrow and see what they say. If it’s not in your activities menu, you have to add it by selecting edit, then pressing add at the bottom of the screen, then choosing the tempo trainer. Once you’ve added it to your activities menu, just need to tap it 👍

Not really, you can only use the tempo trainer at the range to monitor your swing speeds. No watch will track shots the the range, you’ll need something like the Garmin R10

Perhaps a stupid question but your screen jumped out a me right away. You chose the white tees. When the first hole came up it showed the distances for the longest distance and not the white tee distance. Why would it not automatically give me the yardage for the shot to the white distance range?

If you’re referring to the blue, white and red dots showing on the hole overview on the right, those are the markers for 200, 150 and 100 yards to the hole from those locations. Sorry if I’ve misunderstood your question.

I bought one and have not been able to use it. After I pair it it asks for my privacy setting. I set them and then it says. “Something went wrong” I’ve been power cycling and pairing and unpairing for hours :(

Thanks for watching. From a pure tech and intellectual property perspective...yes it probably is. However, everyone is different in terms of the value they get from the more expensive watch - for my personal circumstances where I have other golf watches, and I like to wear my mechanical watches during the day, no it's probably not worth the extra money for me.... But if I wanted a good quality watch that I could wear all day AND play golf in AND track my fitness activity AND have a great screen and goof battery life....then yes I think I would be happy paying the extra. Hope that makes sense and helps 😀

Great review Kevin and looks like a local lad to boot , have the forerunner 945 which has a decent golf app not as detailed as this watch obviously, also have the sky caddie SX550 gps and Bushnell laser ..all this this and I’m still crap 😢….these are great watches with so many superb features just wish they wasn’t so expensive not that it would stop me getting one if I really wanted it ……p.s that resting heart rate is low are you an athlete 😂

Thanks Gary 👍👍 Been a member at Warley for 6 years I think now. yeah it is expensive, and most won’t use 75% of what the watch has to offer, but it doesn’t matter sometimes, if you want the latest tech…this is currently it. My divers watch does 200m but I don’t have a padi qualification 🤣 Haha, sadly not an athlete, I do a couple of bike rides a week, just always had a low resting heart rate. God knows what would happen to it if I actually try to get properly fit 🤣

@@GolfGuyReviews yeah I’m a bit of a gadget freak but you have to reign it in sometimes but obviously if you haven’t got anything like this then it’s worth the money with all the none golf related features it has its fantastic value but not really worth an upgrade. Played Warley a few years back nice Course but too many blind tee shots for my liking . I’m currently a member of Chelmsford golf club at the moment …good luck with your channel and happy golfing 🏌️‍♂️

Just because I have enough space on my phone for the music I want saved, and I would never exercise without having my phone on my anyway, so no need for me to take the time to figure out how to add music to the watch which is already on my phone

Oh I see. I thought perhaps it slows the watch down. I just received mine and added over 500 songs and I can attest that it does not slow it down. I want to leave the phone behind on runs, so for other viewers, it works great with music stored! Thanks for the great review!@@GolfGuyReviews

Ah thanks, I customised it myself playing with all the options (if you get to that bit in the later half of the video you’ll get an idea of how I made it, as I scroll through all the watch faces and then change the hands and colours)

Great review!!! As beautiful as that watch is, I wouldn't like to be in the group behind the person using it. Surely there is too much information to be had from it. This would turn a 4 hour round into a 5 hour round if you're not careful. #Informationoverload.

I guess the option is there for you to use, and to show your competitor that the mode is turned on if they question it. Better to have the mode there to use rather than not be able to use the watch at all

No strokes gained stats on the golf application. Conventional golf stats mean nothing now. There really isn't much of an upgrade at all from the s62 or from every other stock devices or app on your phone. Was waiting for this watch but no real point getting it now.

47mm and 42mm haven’t totally the same features. The 47mm has the GPS dual frequency option (like the best garmin watches) that you can activate to have a better accuracy (2meters instead of 3) and works better under trees, …

Thanks for watching Andrew. I’m don’t fully agree with you, as the s70 has a lot more golf, health and activity features compared to the cheaper S42 - it’s really No contest. The previous s62 is much more comparable in terms of features as I highlight in my video, but they both use the same phone software

@Golf Guy Reviews fair enough... by less expensive watches I was referring to the s62 in particular. Not sure anywhere still selling the s42 new. I just find it disappointing their software doesn't match the caliber of the very expensive hardware. There are free golf apps that provide a lot more options and details when it comes to stats but don't have the same GPS technology.

Have played with the s62 for the past year. I also have the CT 10 sensors. Seamless and faster play. I'm not looking for a yardage plate or taking the time to shoot the pin. Most times, I am giving the yardage readings to my golf buddies. Have the s70 coming in 2 days. Also, I do not wear a watch any other time than when I golf. Garmin can only improve this watch by enabling it to find my ball in the thick grass or rough.
