Glad you did this review. I’m having the same problems, and well…it appears that it is an ID 10 T error of the user. 🤦🏼♂️

After other testing, I have concluded that the R10 only works well on shorter irons and best inside. And inside and outside, it doesn’t pick up any good hits from my drivers. If I mishit or 1/2 hit a driver, it picks up. A smash hit…nothing! I’m moving on to the next level.

Was there any comparison on other metrics like club path direction and face angle accuracy? Quite curious as this is what I’m after (considering outdoor net set up).

Great re - review this. Just bought a voicecaddy sc4 and testing it, but considering a Garmin as it has side spin numbers. Any thoughts on which would be better in a back garden setup? Looks like you have a lot of review videos… you have given me some inspiration! Cheers dude!

Glad to have provided inspiration! Can’t really comment on the comparison I’m afraid as I haven’t tried the Skycaddy. For a home Simulator, I’d say the Garmin should be ok to start you off, but I think you’ll soon want something with a little more to offer..

Were you using the built in R10 software? Everyone recommends you either use Awesome Golf or GSPro instead as they're both a lot more accurate.
@GolfGuyReviews4 ай бұрын
Yes just using the Garmin app. I’ve seen plenty of comment from users saying they’re still not happy with the other apps too. I wanted to test what you get out the box 👍

The R10 cant get the spin from an RCT ball for the Driver it doesn't rotate enough before the screen. Garmin says it has to rotate twice before the screen for RCT to work. Hitting driver it travels too fast and spins to slow to make 2 rotations before impact with the screen.

The reason your "test" showed worse data on driver is simply distance to screen, 9' is too short. 11' or more is optimal and produces the most accurate readings. Each machine requires time to properly measure and thus clubs with less ball speed provides the units time to properly measure the spin and launch. The one control measure you did not show was, did the trackman use an algorithm and have their spin in italics, or did it pick up and measure spin, the numbers would be bold. Trackman struggles with short distances of 9' to screen as well and will often guestimate spin. The only true measure of spin should come from camera capture like GC Quad. If you have the ability to retest with more distance to screen I think you would find very little variation. Cheers, good video.
@GolfGuyReviews3 ай бұрын
It would be great to have more room to the screen, but to be fair Garmin don't say you need more, and I was using a private studio which felt a decent size...certainly larger than many will have access to at their home. Would love to have tested it against a GC Quad too, but just don't have access to one at the moment annoyingly.

I don't know that I would consider "10 yards" in the green zone. I think 5 yards or less would be more appropriate. I don't think anyone that is serious enough to spend the time and money on a setup for practice or sim, would consider a +/- 10 yard error acceptable. Also, there may be some cross interference between the two radar based units, and that may be compounded when using the RCT balls. It's always best to use a top camera based monitor as the baseline, because they are not subject to this problem.
@GolfGuyReviews5 ай бұрын
Could be some interference, but this is all I had access to at the time. I feel 10 +/- yards is acceptable at this price point. If that an issue, you’re going to have to get comfortable spending at least 10x more to get that Margin of error down
@brawrecords4 ай бұрын
10 yards is absolutely not acceptable. You wouldn't accept that even if it was free... @@GolfGuyReviews
@typulsipher97924 ай бұрын
10 yards is perfectly acceptable for any average players, also keep in mind the comparison is against another launch monitor. Not real balls on a range or course
@rts36134 ай бұрын
@@typulsipher9792 10 yards is a pretty common distance between clubs. So, a ten yard discrepancy is 3 clubs. If you hit an 8i 140 yards, but the launch monitor reads 130 or 150, what's the purpose? Do you hit an 8, 9 or 7i when facing that distance on the course?

Unfortunately I don't have access to a trackman at an outdoor range - I tried to compare it to a Top Tracer range in my initial review, but I wasn't happy with the accuracy of the results, hence this follow up video in more controlled conditions
@leecomerford7381Ай бұрын
2 observations for anyone curious about an R10: 1) The Garmin app is notoriously terrible for tracking shots (not sure why but its a wide known issue.. use awesome golf or GSPro) 2) You really need 12 feet or more from ball to screen (Garmin states 8 feet is absolute minimum but more room will improve accuracy) If set up properly (with RCT balls), it's a great LM for the price...
