If you buy a putter they will usually wave the fitting fee or give you a free lesson along with the fitting! But trust that you will be dropping a couple hundred easy maybe 150 if you buy a sale or last season model 😉

Some coaches say shorter backswing and longer through swing ... others say the other way round. I'm confused

Experiment with both Styles,and then test for Short and Long putts. You may even find One works Better for Short putts, and the Other is Better for longer Lag putts.

I recently had a chance to have some pratice swings with Germany's most renowned putter builder Kramski at a Golfing event. That guy there also had tons of expertise to offer for me and just within those 20 minutes he was taking time for me my putting improved considerably. I can only recommend a putter fitting for everyone especially if they also teach you how to improve your green reading.

Get the lesson first. Find out what kind of a putter you are. Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Then get fitted - Mike .

I went for a putter fitting with TaylorMade at their Kingdom in Georgia & the fitter used Quintic. It was as much a lesson as a fitting. I got fit for a putter perfect for me, but also learned why it worked for me & what my good/bad habits were putting, how to fix them.

Golficity there is no question! Know the club is fit properly for your stroke as well as the “lesson” you receive has improved my game by I’d say 3-4 shots a round

I'd love a lesson with this guy. I'm afraid though when he sees my putting stroke he'll start crying. Somehow I shoot in the 70s, but I totally suck at putting. And it's not that I don't try. Doesn't help that in CA, one can't practice on the putting greens, they're closed.
